If you can find first wave in mint condition.....those figures were considered ugly and not collectible so Kids played with them and adults stayed away from them.

I personally think Japanese versions of the Super Sentai Rangers will be more collectible than their american versions. Kids will soon realize like my son has that the american shows suck and the Japanese versions are way better.

I know for sure that Joe's and Transformers are highly sought after. I have a sizable collection of both but I've got pretty much all the characters I've ever wanted so I'm winding down on them. A friend of mine just picked up 4 giant boxes that is a mix of both for 10 bucks from some lady at a garage sale. Some are in really great shape. He and I are going to sort them and figure out what he has and he's going to sell them to put money away for his daughters schooling. Though he promised me dibs on Skywarp.

The thing with the 90's is that suddenly everybody was collecting for collecting sake but they made so much of everything that nothing is rare now. I remember when they started putting out new Star Wars figures in the 90's and my friends and I went wild for them. We bought like 2 of everything. One to open another to put away. I ended up giving away most of mine because I couldn't sell them later. I see them at toy shows now for a couple bucks each in package. I can't even tell you how much X-Men stuff I have just laying around.

I do think there'll be a time when kids from the 1990s will become nostalgic adult collectors of their toys from that decade. But, that being said, I think the fact that there were, in most cases, more than enough toys manufactured to go around, and so many hoarders and speculators still have them. So there might wind up being a boost in the number of sales in the future, but in terms of a boost in values I don't think that's going to be significant. There'll most likely always be enough supply to meet the demand, and so prices won't really rise much. That's just my opinion.

Well.... some stuff is. There were still knockoffs and the like; plus, a lot of the speculators dumped stuff so that’ll cut down the numbers. But ultimately I don’t think it really matters; EVERYBODY feels nostalgic at some point, and that’s what fuels the boom. You’ll have folks dedicated to more obscure stuff, rediscovering things, discovering things for the first time.... so stuff considered bad the first time around will find a new audience. (“Skeleton Warriors” and “Mummies Alive” anyone?) Big-name, readily available stuff like the McFarlanes and those sports figures will be the hook, and it’ll branch out from there. Remeber: it’s not neccessarily the toys themselves people will want, but the “90's experience.” ANYTHING associated with the era will gain a following.

So if it says 1988 it's safe to say it's the first wave? I wish I had kept more :(

I'm so stuck. I was born in 72 but my brother is ten years older so I got left over baby Boomer stuff!!!!

I long to see the day Early Spawn and Animated toy Biz will be worth anything.
We were predicting kids would want th ePower Rangers when they came out.

Not sure I follow on teh Baseball cards. I wasnt so much into them but my best friend was. So the olde guys with money came along and bought up everything? I knew cards were down but I didnt know what started it. I figured it was the Hologram Prism foil junk that was being done with comics.

That’s not always a bad thing. My whole family were practitioners of the nerdly arts, so I got exposed to a lot of stuff from before my generation. Helped broaden my horizons.

Well.... there were so many made that it’ll be a while for some of ‘em. But think Mego: how many 8" Batmans are there? It’ll be the common figures that hook the next wave of collectors. They’ll see a cheapie Spawn at a flea market or somesuch. “Hey! I had that!” Get one for display on top of the tv.... look up some facts online.... Hook up with other collectors and fans.... “Hey! I didn’t know they made THAT guy! He was my favourite!” Cruise ebay.... spend way too much for “THAT guy”.... only need one more for a whole set.... “Hey! A variant bootleg from Indonesia!”.... see the return of the McFarlane figure style/format.... complain that the NEW figures are too expensive and not designed right.... not understand what the kids today see in whatever comic/cartoon/game/movie is popular at the time, and why they waste so much money on the stupid toys from it....

Yeah, being an 80s kid, I'm well on my way to getting everything back.

but then, I didn't part with much to begin with.
