I remember being disappointed with those army "figures", too. I had the same reaction when the "footlocker" was so small, but to be honest I used them a lot until they couldn't be used no more So I can't really put them on the disappointment.

I think the big disappointment for me was Stretch Armstrong. After the first day, I was sort of like. OK I stretched him, now what? He wasn't really sized to interact with any Megos or Big Jim. He just sat in his box until I discovered it in storage years later - leaked over a lot of other boxes in storage
      It's all good!

I'd have to go with Sea Monkeys too. I longed for those things and would just stare at the comic ads wishing them into existence. Talk about lame ... finally got them as an adult and was pretty disappointed.

This is what I spent my "Family vacation trip to Florida" money on. I was in the land of Mego....

The MOTU Attak Trak. First off, the one I got for Christmas would not work at all. It just wouldn't come on. Then when it was replaced, the new one barely worked. It would barely go across a hardwood floor, and carpet stopped it dead in it's traks. On the commercial it was shown going over all sorts of rough terrain. Most MOTU toys lived up to their hype. This one stunk.

For modern toys, I've never been as disappointed with a toy as the flying RC Superman from Superman Returns. It was my son's big birthday present that year. Penguins fly better than that thing. Worst of all it broke the first time it crashed to the ground. I took the broken hunk of foam and plastic back to TRU, thinking they'd give me grief. They took it back no questions asked. I'm guessing Superman was one of the year's biggest turkeys. I warned a lady not to buy it while out shopping for Christmas presents that year.

Always saw all of these, but never talked my mom into getting 'em. I believe the only mail order items I ever sent away for were the FOOM kit and my beloved Captain America beach towel.

I was too wrapped up with GI Joes, Captain Action, MMM, etc..

And Marvel comics IF I had two dimes to rub together.
              Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.

I Loved suckerman until he got stuck on the roof of my friend's house, we were aiming for his sister's window. I Loved LJN wrestlers too and the JAKKS LJN style heads are in scale with mego if ya want to make a custom Stone Cold or Rock. Sea Monkey's are brine shrimp and little green Army men are fun to shoot with BB guns and set on fire listen to the flaming drip sound. I guess for me the toy I really wanted and it wasn't as cool as I thought would have to be the GI Joe hang Glider with the tan Grunt figure. The glider didn't fly like the commercial and tore up very fast but at least you had a tan Grunt to fall into formation with the rest of the Joes.

I remember being disappointed by the Remco "energized" Spiderman. I liked the idea of what he did, but I hated the fact he was not jointed so I could blend him in with my other 12 inch figures. As a kid, I loved having adventures with my action figures. But the Remco Spidey got retired fairly early for that reason. I still have him today though. He does just as much now as he did then. He stands there.

^I wanted energized Green Goblin so badly until I realized he was a statue lol.

Manglord was indeed a total rip-off--I think he was recalled for false advertising.

I never ordered comics toys--I had no ide the soldier were that bad. The ads were so cool!!

I'd probably go with Stretch too. Got him for Christmas, stretched him a few times, then....*yawn*...what else can you do with him. Basically a heavy, non-articulated brick. I barely played with him, and I have absolutely no desire to own one now, even if they weren't leaky timebombs.

I loved my Stretch Armstrong. I played with it all time...maybe too much because his skin started to get those "stretch marks" in a few spots and then he started to leak.
Wish I had considered attempting a repair and keeping him or emptying him out but he went in the trash.

Anyone remember Boglins? Yeah - well I wanted one of the bog ones that could move thier eyes and all - but I only got one of the dumb old little ones. Which is basically a regular old rubber puppet

Manglors were pretty dissapointing. Great box art though!

1970's CHILTON 7UP Toy Soda Dispenser Machine, in box for sale - New and Used - Collectibles-Articles.com

When I saw this in a catalog, in my kid's head, I thought it was going to be a honest to goodness little dispenser of 7-up.

Of course, it was a toy where you attach a nozzle to a glass bottle of pop and conceal it inside the dome. The nozzle would always leak and they had itty bitty little plastic cups to dispense it into. But it looked cool

And the nostalgia was enough for me to pick up a MIB one on Ebay a while ago. I still have my first one and am thinking of painting it into a Coca Cola one (which I wanted more than a 7-up but it was not available).
