Yes, you are reading that correctly, it says "Overalls in a HEE HAW print" as in that show that was on opposite of Lawrence Welk. Was this show popular with the playground crew? Wearing these where I grew up would be the equivilant of being caught dressing up my cats.

You've got to figure, here in Kentucky, Hee-Haw was just straight entertainment. It wasn't "quaint" and "hillbilly" it was just music and comedy, straight-up. My parents and grandparents were the target audience. As I got older I should have loathed the show, but my dad being a musician (a finger-style guitar player in the Chet Atkins/Merle Travis tradition) helped me appreciate at least the music.

Oh and my dad always thought Roy Clark to be something of a hack, not nearly as good as he thought he was. And that Buck Owens was slumming by doing this show. He could do better.

I watched it out of boredom at my "We get 3 channels" Grandparents house. It was better than Lawrence Welk (which fascinates me now) and it was in english.

I didn't really understand it but it moved quickly and Buck Owen's guitar reminded me of Captain America's shield.

These were very popular when I was a kid. Lots of kids in my class had them. I wanted a pair but never got them. Maybe my parents were smarter than I thought back then

Yeah, Buck's guitar was awesome. When Pat Smear showed up with a copyon MTV Unplugged: Nirvana, I thought that was pretty cool.

Hey Chris I'm in TN, so I know what you're talking about. I watched the show as a kid too. Hee Haw was like watching Benny Hill with a southern take. Instead of English jokes and women with their boobs hanging out we had southern jokes and women with their boobs hanging out. I read many reports about Buck Owens after he died. I get the impression he felt he was slumming on Hee Haw too. Many of the cast members are still around the Nashville area. I know a guy who puts on a big comic show and I've tried to get him to do a Hee Haw reunion show at the Nashville fairgrounds. Sorta like the Dukes of Hazzard reunions that have been going on for the last 2 years in Nashville. Both shows had over 100,000 people show up in 3 days. I don't know about Hee Haw, but I do believe many people would show up. I know I would.

We even attended a filming of the show. Got to see Archie Cambell do his Barber shop skits.

Those overalls are actually pretty cool (now!!). I wonder if there was any superhero prints for these?

I also grew up on "Hee Haw." I didn't care for it, but my parents (being from WV) loved it.

Holy crap! Those are awesome!

Didn't really care for Hee Haw as a kid, Being a middle class suburbanite it was kinda creepy to me when I was small, seeing all those bassackward hillbillies. But my dad (who was born on a farm) watched it every Sun. night so I was kinda stuck.

As an adult I totally began to appreciate it and I even bought the DVDs.
