I think it REALLY depends on what it's exposed to. Moisture bad; since it'll promote mold and rot. Even if you dry it out it'll still cause problems. Sun bad; it'll dry the stuff out. Other than that, it should keep for a while.

The US version of Nerfman came in a box with cello around it. The only carded version is the Canadian one with a die cut card. I think the US version is $75-$175. Forget about the Canadian version. I've only seen one.
