Why oh why?

I was flipping through the channels last night and came across a House Hunters repeat. There was a house in NJ that look like it hadn't been touched since the 70s. This thing still had shag carpeting and everything. The bathroom looked like it belong on the Plaid Stallions site. Heck,the whole house did. And the dopey couple that bought it had to ruin it by updating it.

That reminds me of the song that goes something like "tore down paradise to put put in a parking lot". Or something like that anyway. It has been a while since I have heard it. I am sure someone here is familiar and will correct it. Makes perfectly good sense though.

Sometimes people like to "think" that they are making things better when they are actually making them worse.

Yeah, that really sucks. Whenever I'm blessed enough to own a house, (this house is my older brother's), I'd love to re-do it all 70s style! Shag carpet, wall paneling, classic (new) appliances, and a big ole floor console TV!

They looked at two other houses that needed less work but chose that one because it was less money. What's the point in getting a house cheaper if you're just going to be putting the money back in to update it?
