    Help identifying this guy

This will probably end up being one of the easiest id's ever on the forum here and i'll feel like an idiot ..... but this was a figure that belonged to my brother that got mixed in with my action figures i had when i was a kid. I always thought it was an Action Jackson... but wasn't sure. Thanks!

That is actually an early version of the SWAT character "Hondo". A different sculpt was used later which better fits his likeness. Made by LJN.

Thanks for the reply. Well, that changes things.... i was always a fan of the SWAT television show so maybe it was mine afterall. I do know my brother had an Action Jackson though so i just assumed this was it. Thanks again.

        Actually that's an early McCabe.
        see chart below
If anyone has an early Hondo head, though, I need one.

Bringing this back up to discuss missing accessories. Can anyone tell me what he is missing? I'd like to complete him at some point. From what i've gathered so far, as there is very little info on these guys....... it seems he is missing a vest, hat and possibly a rifle? Also any links to sites that feature LJN S.W.A.T. figures would be great!

Some of the info there on these lines is incorrect but it's better than nothing.

What did you find incorrect? The only thing I've noticed is it looks like Hondo is actually Luca and vice-versa.

I've actually always been surprised how good the sculpts were on the SWAT line. Once McCabe and Hondo were changed of course. Also wondered why LJN never went the Mego route once the body tooling was created and acquired more licenses. Mego was extremely successful at the time with that plan and LJN was already deep into it with these 3 lines. Wonder if there were two companies producing numerous lines in 8" format if the 3 3/4" revolution would have been delayed enough to extend Mego's life span.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Are Willie and Chris the same sculpt?

Yeah, that's part of it. I don't remember exactly anymore. I just recall looking up some things and finding some stuff wrong.
Perhaps that was the only thing. I'd have to go back and take another look to be sure.
Also (not a huge problem, we're just spoiled here) the pics are really tiny and there's no accessory check or good pics of stuff like that.

Yup, you nailed it.... and that's precisely why i asked here. I had seen those pics before and for the life of me i can't see a rifle in the package. I can't understand why a SWAT figure wouldn't come with some sort of weapon . So am i correct in assuming my 1st issue McCabe is only missing his hat and vest?

Thanks for all the input so far everyone!

I haven't owned a carded SWAT guy but as far as I know they only came with vest & hat as far as accessories. Rookies and Emergency guys got nothing.
LJN did sell accessory packs though where you got guns and belts and M-16s, tear gas guns, helmets, barricades, handcuffs, etc.
Still trying to find close, clear pics of those items as I still need quite a few for my sets.
