    Sleestak Attack

One of the cryingest shames of the 1970s were that a lot of cool TV shows never got much merchandise, take Land of the Lost for example. This was easily one of the most memorable kids shows of the decade and all we got were a few rack toys from Larami, some viewmasters, a Halloween costume (which I'll admit kicks ***) and a board game.
Nobody thought the Sleestaks were marketable? Heck nobody thought kids wouldn't buy a series of plastic dinosaurs with a "Land of the Lost" sticker slapped on them? I'd be hunting ebay every day for such a thing.
At least this bagatelle features some lovely graphics, kind of gives a glimpse of what a Land of the Lost comic might have looked like. Oh damn, that's another thing they should have made...

Yeah, I never realized the paltry amount of stuff that came out.
You think someone would have made a sleestak even in the MARX giant army men/heroes/western/etc mold. Or a model kit...something cool!

One of the biggest disappointments of my childhood was not having MEGO Land of the Lost figures. Thanks to cmonster, almitysufx, & TheToyRoom, I finally have them.

Thanks guys, for making a kid's dream come true.

Yeah, toy companies kinda dropped the ball when it came to Krofft. Which is really strange when you think about it, b/c they were so iconically 70s, so it would stand to reason that they would produce toys that were iconically 70s as well.

This item looks very familiar. I may have owned this as a kid.

A kids show that lasted 4 season in the 1970's. Can any other live action kids Saturday morning series make such a claim? Why no tie in action figures? Why did MEGO drop the ball on this?

              Hmmmm....

There were colouring/activity books too, but I don't remember them so good.

When I play w/ the kids, I use Big Jeff in a piece of cloth, and the SMDM Bigfoot. But as a kid I would have gone nuts for a figure. I had a mad crush on Joseph Butcher.

Its amazing how what seems so obvious now (kids shows and merchandising) was not alwaus an immediate thoughgt when we were kids.

LOTL would have made a great 1970s Pin Ball game too!

If Sid & Marty Krofft had had Gene Simmons as a partner, just imagine all of the cool stuff that would have been produced.
