    Video World of Sports

An open message to all children of the 1990s, this is what we had and we liked it dammit! Sure, Super Mario was cool but did his console have a wood grain finish? I didn't think so...

All hail mighty PONG!! I still have my Telstar Alpha from when I was a kid. It no longer works that well, (and only b/c my previous students loved it so much they broke it!), but it will remain a treasured part of my childhood.

Montgomery Wards must have thought the "World" only played Tennis They forgot all of the other sports.

Actually, I used to beg my mother almost daily for something like this. She had heard a report that they left "burn-in" marks on the TV screen and refused to ever get one. In fact the day I bought my own Nintendo in the 90's she told me not to leave it on too long because it would ruin my TV screen.
      It's all good!

I have a similar story: My family got an Atari 2600 one Christmas, but my mom read a similar report, and wouldn't let us hook it up to the color TV. So we had to use the 13" B&W model in my sister's room. To this day, I still don't know what most Atari games looked like in color.

By the time NES rolled around, I successfully lobbied to use the big TV, and won that time.

People love to rip on how primitive and lame the old games like this are, but I still have fun playing them to this day.

I don't get that little bit they have under the price. "You've seen them advertised. You know." Know what?

Probably that they were cheaper than the known name brands.

Atari 2600 was awesome back then. I loved the Activision games, especially Pitfall & River Raid, but there were alot of fun games. I bought an Activision CDRom for my computer, but using the keyboard or a joypad just isn't the same. With some games, you gotta use a joystick. If they made an Atari joystick for the computer, I'd rock that CDRom for all it's worth.

I loved playing Pong on my Atari. I think it's still somewhere on my parent's attic

Pong consoles are awesome. So many different kinds to choose from and loads of companies were cranking out their own versions. It's also cool to think that some 30 plus years later so many of the darn things still work. That my friends, is quality.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Mine did until about 7 years ago, when my students played w/ it and leaned on one of the knobs a little.
