The Adventures of Don, Bill and Jac!

"Don Bill Jac" sounds a bit like an obscure early 70s film you'd catch at 4 am, there's good reason for this as it's the name of a toyline that could only exist in the 1970s. Don, Bill and Jac consisted of the titular heroes and their "each sold seperately" outfits and accessories.

If you've never heard of these toys but find it oddly familiar to you at the same time, it's because Don Bill Jac was only sold in Italy but it is a clever repackaging of a toy line known to North American kids as "Mr Action"(more on him soon).

The results are really quirky and fun, enjoy the 1975 Baravelli "Bill Jac Don" catalog:

I like how the outfits had little cardboard playsets. I wish GIJoe outfits did that.

I don't recognize the bearded fella but those other two are definitely LJN heads.

I love how new stuff keeps popping up. I want a Don in a deep sea diver outfit.

What scale are those, 8" or 12" ? That sea sled thingy looks suspiciously like the proposed Spock Explorer of legend . . .

                    They're 12" guys.

Ceppi Ratti in Italy had an 8" version of them (using LJN bodies again) but they were called Il Mondo Avventuroso di Black Jack, Tommy Bright and Jimmy Brown. A complete copy of the Bil, Don and Jac concept.

I've seen the 8" versions offered up several times on eBay by the same dealer. I guess there's not much love for them.

I thought that bearded head looked familiar. I had that Mr. Action when I was a kid. These look far more articulated than the crappy figure I had though.
