    1982 Kenner Indiana Jones Line

Despite it's parentage of Lucas and Spielberg, Indiana Jones has never been the merchandising success like it's cousins Star Wars and E.T. Although one could blame that on it's historical surrounds or it's lack of wookies, it's really never been established why.

One of the best attempts at merchandising Indy was Kenner's 1982 "Adventures of Indiana Jones" line, released in 1982, a year after the film made it's debut, it was a nicely made if not sparse toy line that ran for two years. What little did come out was actually quite nice and now very collectible.:

I find this line really tempting to get into, which is weird because I'm not the world's biggest fan of the movies. Just something very well made and appealing to it that seems to click with the toy nerd in me.

The line came out when Kenner was hitting it's stride in sculpting and the faces of the figures really show it.

Great classic toy line. Way above average sculpts for the time. It's not hard to collect because it's such a small line and only a few figures are tough to get. The only problem to look out for is Indy figures with broken thumbs.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Some good sculpts but that Belloq sculpt reminds us that this was still
the 80s as far as "sculpts that were just horrendous" goes...

I have almost the entire line loose. great series of figures. only need Marion in the white dress and Beloque in ceremonial robes. have all the playsets too except the convoy truck and the horse. I actually sold the horse a number of years back on ebay.
I have been trying to come up with a good way to display it all in my Man Cave/toy room

I think if I had the room I'd be more into collecting this line.

It would've been nice if the RECENT Raiders characters released were
closer to THOSE chosen for the vintage line, then the modern line might've
lasted a bit longer, if at least been more satisfying before it sputtered out.
