    Galoob A Team Catalog

In 1984, Galoob toys launched an exciting line of toys based one of the bigger surprise hits of the decade. The A Team was a loud, fun and somewhat cartoony adventure show that had adults laughing and children everywhere captivated. It makes perfect sense that this motely crew would become part of a merchandising phenomenon.
With the movie coming out and all the new merchandise, it felt like a good idea to take a look at what had come before.

Didn't know about the playsets or the jet fighter. By the way,is it a smart idea to give such a thing to Murdock?

In 1984, I started teaching pre-school. The school had 2 groups of kids, babies and pre-schoolers. The pre-schoolers I dubbed The A-Team and the babies The B Bunch. I had a Mr. T poster in my classroom and "Mr. T & Me" books in my library. I always had to make sure I had a cup of water standing by when I read the books b/c I had to do Mr. T's voice.

My kid brother longed for these toys but I'm not sure he ever got them. Maybe the van and Mr. T, I'm not sure. I had a larger Mr. T doll until a few years ago.

I had some Megolike figures (think they were taller tho) when I was a kid, but I never knew they had such cool toys.

I had the 6"B.A. Baracus figure, but I never realized until now how squatty these guys were. Must have been the MOTU inflluence.

Overall, a very nicely done line, but what's up with the bad guys? The red-head looks like one of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers went from pot to meth (and roids)!

I had the entire team in 6" scale but until now didn't know about the playset or the bad guys. I also had Amy (the photographer) who isn't shown here. The line may have done well overall, but I remember my mom picking up several (so I assume they were on clearance) and having them on hand for presents if I got invited to a birthday party with short notice (we weren't in a town with a large toy store). I actually never saw the 3 3/4" figures back then but would have loved them and the van. They'd have fit better with other toys I collected at the time.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

I have those figures...except for BA who didn't survive childhood. In his place is Mr T from Rocky 3 until I can find a replacement.

Wow, that's a blast from the past that sure brings back good memories. When I was a kid and we'd spend Christmas with my Mom's side of the family, my grandparents would buy my two cousins and I pretty great gifts. One year, I got Mr. T and my cousins got the other guys. I don't remember if anyone got the playset--and how neat is that?--but they were cool toys. It would be great if someone brought these back like how the Tron figures came back or the retro action Megos. Oh, yeah and waking up to watch Saturday morning cartoons and catching Mr. T! Good times.

i was a little disappointed at how "corny" their facial expressions were but nevertheless glad that they were made.

I got all of these guys in 1984 for Christmas along with the set of 3 3/4 inch A-Team figures. I didn't have any of the play sets though.

I remeber seeing the pack of 3 3/4 inch figures for sale at JC Penny in early 1985.
