Opinions on custom repairs on toys ?

When I buy figures or play-sets I always try to get them looking good cleaning sorting without changing anything ,what is the opinion on custom repair's? I mean maybe repairing stuff There will the inevitable signs of wear from being played with will it change the value if I strengthening fragile points I have a roof on a play-set that is super thin , would it be drastic to custom cut a thicker bit of card and them stick both parts together or would this totally sabotage the set ? in the long run its going to save it from tearing or bending any help on this matter would be great

    Hmmmm....

I replace parts all the time. I'm not concerned with authenticity though. I want the best representation of the character. To that end, I've replaced parts on completed figures with custom bits; just 'cos I thought they looked/played better.

generally, custom repairs are frowned upon.

it is always considered a defect in other collecting worlds.

but ultimately, if you are happy with the repair, and moreover that you don't plan on parting with the piece, then it's not that big a deal, IMO.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

question 1: I would place roof in a protective zip lock or supportive picture frame and just use a ALL custom roof on top.
In the future if you are selling, the modification that you want to do will lower the price.
Question 2 :once cellophane is rip there is no way to repair

Yeah anything that's too fragile should be set aside safely. You may never want to sell the item but just in case it becomes necessary. The heartier things can be displayed, so long as they aren't getting too dirty/dusty. Try not to diminish the value while getting the most out of your purchase. If you do add your own roof, try not to do anything to the rest of the structure.
