    Mystery Star Trek

Ok, to be honest right from the beginning, this is not about a classic toy. But please here me out.

My father was very good friends with the assistant film editor for the original Star Trek series. At the end of the first season, all of the cast and crew were given 6 glasses. On the sides of the glasses the Star Trek logo and enterprise were printed. My fathers friend gave him 2 of the glasses. Everything that I have said here is what my father told me. I wish I could ask my father more questions but he passed away a few years ago. I do not know how to contact my fathers old friend either. I was hoping that someone here on the forum may know something about these glasses. I've been trying to find out what I could for some time now with no luck. I'd like to validate what I know and get more information on these glasses. It would be great even to know how much value they hold. "I do not plan to ever sell these, just so you know". If anyone could help me or refer me to someone who could, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks everyone for your time.

It's a cool story if it was true, definitely some rare Trek memorabilia

It is a true story, the glasses have popped up before... most recently in an auction with a bunch of other Star Trek memorabilia from Profiles in History last October. The set of 6 glasses they had, sold for $1200 and can be found here...

Great, thanks!. You have no idea how important this is for me.

Just a little history on how I got these.....

Back in the 60's, my father's best friend and him both worked in arrowspace. Lay-offs occured and my fathers friend got the boot. Of course they remained great friends and had a small jazz combo together. My father's friend who was "John", was pushed into the film editing world by his father. His father was a big film editor in Hollywood. His father did Ben Hur. So John's father got him his first job as the assitant film editor for Star Trek. John gave my father 2 glasses. Eventually he gave them to me. So there you go!

I remember seeing a pair of those at a collector show many years ago. They're really nice! Congrats on finally getting your info, and on owning some very cool Star Trek items!

Great story and piece of Trek history which makes them worth way more than the market value.

I am pretty blown away to finally have closure. It's just too bad my father is not alive to get the low-down. Thanks everybody. This just goes to show that you can find out about anything on the MEGO Museum Forum.
