    Stretch Armstrong Blues

I have been really thinking a lot about Stretch the last month or so. I had the original back in 79 and my best friend who lived across the street had Stretch Monster. I have such fond memories of playing with those toys even though they didn't last long.

What I would do to get another one. But, looking around on ebay, seems very unlikely I will own another. I guess I can only hope that one day there is a re-release.

Ok, time to get out my Six Million Dollar Man toys and cheer up.

I had Stretch and the Monster and loved them. I remember taking them to show n' tell in kindergarten, and they were a big hit.

I always thought Stretch Monster was wicked cool. Reminds me a lot of the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Fun toys when they were new but are pretty gross now unfortunately. Can't justify the price for what now basically amounts to a brittle 30 year old condom filled with rotten corn syrup. Nasty.

Hopefully somebody will eventually make new ones.

Got mine in 1979, and he was easily one of my most favorite childhood toys. I recently unearthed a couple pics of me playing with him back then at Christmas time.

I hope you find one one day. Personally I wouldn't want it anywhere near my collection. The risk of it bursting and all that corn syrup dripping all over my figures... perish the thought...

                            .
strangely most are still found boxed and in at least decent condition.
While I can understand somebody not wanting to spend a re-tarded amount of money on something that probably shouldn't still be around, you just have to hold a nice mint one in your hands to feel that proverbial flood of nostalgia wash over you.
Oh, and corn syrup doesn't rot, just get's hard.

My understanding is anything organic can spoil, rot, etc. I've had a Stretch Armstrong figure go bad and rupture on me. It wasn't pleasant. It was stinky, gooey mess. It did smell spoiled.

The Stretch figures were great toys in their day but even the best surving vintage Stretch figures are all on borrowed time. Not to mention you can't actually play with them anymore because the old laytex will tear and the corn syrup has gone bad/hardened.

Hopefully the long rumored Stretch movie will actually get released some day and Hasbro will reissue some of the toys to go with it.
