The Classic Star Trek Toy Gallery

While most children of the '70s recall the Star Trek merchandise explosion of the 1970s led by the Mego Corporation it's surprising just how much merchandise the show generated when it actually was on the air. Much of these products are so rare that they almost seemed shrouded in mystery or misinformation,
That's why we're lucky to know Trek collector extraorindaire Bruce Z. who has an a treasure trove of amazing Star Trek Merchandise and was kind enough to share it with the world. Click on the sample images below to see larger pages with descriptions:

I always wanted the Estes rocket Enterprise but I'm sure it would've just been destroyed or lost on it's first flight (just like almost every other Estes rocket I ever had! )

I love the communicators. And the box art is great! Especially that board game. I wish we could see what the board looked like.

They look pretty cool, but other than the fact the name Star Trek is on he packaging these seem to have nothing to do with the show.

There's some fun stuff in there! As we said before, the pre-style guide artwork makes each manufacturer's products unique. Of course you get upside down Enterprises, but the diversity really makes each product stand out.

I like how Spock moved his science emblem over to his right breast and embroidered his name on his shirt on that Sugar Smacks box. He digs 'em.

              Hmmmm....

I'm surprised at how many I remember. I remember the Estes kit too; but never had one. I was always curious to see if it'd actually fly. (I DID have an X-Wing, and it did fly.... more or less.)

Is it just me; or does the Japanese kit come with a propeller?

I'd pay money to see Leonard Nimoy wearing that Astro-helmet.

I'm sure a lot of kids gave each other grief for that Astro-Helmet and Rocket Pistol back in the day. Steve:Okay, who's turn is it to look like a bug eyed goof?" Ray:"It's Jimmy's turn." Jimmy:"No way! I wore that thing yesterday. It's Pete's turn today."

The Astro Helmet was also sold/boxed individually as well as the Rocket Pistol.
Most of the early Remco Star Trek toys were all recycled/restickered toys that Remco already had out under other names.
The cards that you state you don't recognize were made by a British company A&BC in 1969 and are extremely rare.
I am digging the asian Enterprise model. Never seen that one before.

Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

Funny, but to me the Illustration of Kirk using the wrist communicator looks more like Chris Pine than Shatner. Not only did Remco foreshadow TMP they predicted the new actor, too.
                      It's all good!
