    Plush Godzilla and Zooky

Not only did I get a plush Godzilla in my stocking for Christmas '80 but I still have it, he currently resides in my daughter's room. The Godzilla cartoon was a huge favourite of mine growing up as was the Marvel comic, no wonder so many 70s kids grew up digging the Big G.
I don't even really mind Godzooky all that much, I'd take four of him over one Scrappy Do anytime.

A Knickerbocker counter display box, exposing the two to one Zilla/Zooky ratio.

Hmmm...I have several eps of that cartoon on tape. Godzuki (I think that's the way the Japanese spell it), is a lighter shade of green than Godzilla, but he's not yellow.

I watched the cartoon religiously (but was never a fan of Godzooky. I'll take Minya/Minilla over that abomination!) but never even knew about these stuffed toys until years later. I wouldn't mind picking up the stuffed Godzilla someday.

I always hated Godzilla's roar in that cartoon - it sounded like a fat guy with dry heaves.

It was Ted "Lurch" Cassidy who did Godzilla's roar for the cartoon.

I've yet to pick up either of these dolls but would love to have nice examples of both. Until then, I'll have to make do with my Toy Vault plush Godzooky:

I wonder how much one of those counter displays would go for now?

WOW! I never saw the box display before. Which ever store I was at had them all out of the boxes and mixed in with the stuffed toy aisle (remember those, I do not think they even exist anymore). Godzooky was hard to come by. I did eventually find one and convince my mom to buy it. Both of them are still with me today

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

yeah, I agree Godzooky was much easier too take than Scraapy Doo or even Herbie the Robot from Fantastic Four. Why did they assume kids wanted a cute sidekick character in every cartoon anyway?
