    Remco Warlord Figures

Since I got back into all of this, I've been digging out all the action figures I saved( not necessarily Megos). Saw these in my local Kiddie City back in the day, and bought them with my lawn mowing money. Couldn't believe they would make figures of these characters, and in Masters of the Universe style. I didn't buy Hercules, because he was in the style of Hercules Unbound, and I hated that series. I got Warlord and Machiste though. Took them out of the packs to display back then, but they're in good shape.

Didn’t they also make the old school WCW Wrestling figures? Rick Flair and the Road Warriors, plus a few more?

Don't know. I was just into WWF back then. Still have my VHS of Wrestlemania 1 around. Also have a couple of off air recordings of Saturday Nights Main Event, but wasn't into the figures in any case.

Agreed on the Hercules comic series... what a snoozefest..

Warlord though...THAT comic still holds up.

Yeah, they made wrestling figures for the AWA, one of the big 3 wrestling promotions at that time...the other 2 being WWF and NWA (later becoming WCW).

I remember collecting the Lost world of The Warlord. Yes I had Arak & Hercules and most of the Warrior Beast along with the knockoff Imperial fantasy beast to expand my MOTU collection.

Now that Mattel is back in charge of the DC Comics line I hope that they will redo this lineup. I would also love to have a reprint of the mini-comic that explains how Ark & Hercules entered The Lost World.

Okay, it was actually NWA I was thinking of. I think they made the VonEric brothers too, and maybe the Freebirds and Steiner Brothers?

I believe it was very popular at the time down in Texas.

Again this is shacking up memories:
                  s-l1600.png

Even though we had lots of MOTU we also had Lost World. Now I remember having other characters but forgot where they came from. It was the AWA Wrestling figures that we included:

The Road Warriors were Lost World mercenaries.

Abdullah & Carlos were part of Machete's tribe.

I loved "The Warlord" comic book as a teenager in the 1980s; never bought a single He-Man figure, however. I saw the Warlord REMCO figure at, like, a K Mart one time when my high school basketball team stopped at a strip mall to get fast food pre-game circa 1986-7. I never ate pre-game meals, so I went to K-Mart (or Woolworths, or something similar) and bought this Warlord figure the instant I saw it, impulse buy style. Still have it.

Candidly, the He-Man-style 5" squat body is not to my taste. I also have a Warlord figure circa 2010 that's much more 'realistic' and in the style of the character from that time. I also have a DC Unlimited animated style Warlord (and Deimos) that are probably my favorite Warlord figures.

Freebirds yes, von erichs no, unfortunately and no Steiners either, these were slightly before their time.
I believe the only actual NWA wrestlers in the line were Ric Flair, Abdullah the Butcher and Carlos Colon. And i think those came about because the AWA and NWA had a short-lived partnership called "Pro Wrestling USA". If you ever seen the Highlander movie, the wrestling match in the beginning is from one of those shows.

Other guys in the line...rick martel, baron von raschke, the fabulous ones, Jimmy garvin, Stan hansen, larry Zybzsko, etc.

The Road Warriors were the best tag team ever in the history of Wrestling. I would love to get my hands on that 3 pack set.

The Chinese Dragon has sort of a Reptilicus look to it. Next time it’s shown on Svengoolie, you could use it for your Svengoolie movie of the week review.
