Anyone remember PUFFER KITES ?

Puffer Kites were fantastic.
They were kites that you'd inflate with air and fly like a normal kite.

I remember me and my brother in law flying one so high a small airplane flew beneath it ... it scared us like we might cause an accident, so we brought it down

My brother in law measured the strings (we had multiple ones attached to get it up as high as possible) to see how high it actually was ... His estimate came out to be it was about 3/4 of a mile in the air

Puffer Kites were super fun.
They would fly in almost any light wind ...

Only prob, if they crashed they would usually pop ... but they came with a repair kit.

Hmmmm....

Around the same time there was a similar toy: same idea, but the kites were orange and had a vaguely bat shape. Came in three sizes.

That's what I was picturing in my mind. More of a winged shape, not the one Mike pictured.

Yet another toy brought up from the hidden away parts of my mind. Man, did I want one. I sent away one year for a cheap version that Scotch tape was offering if you sent in enough labels.

I had one too Scott. I seem to recall it was as tall as me. I used to use it to play Robin. The kite filled in for Batman!
