I have and will continue to question Mego or any other company for trying to make toys from the Waltons.

Waltons was a popular show and a legitimately good show but that doesn't mean it makes good or fun toys. Re-enacting grinding poverty in rural America during the great depression doesn't lend itself to fun play. It was and is a very bad idea.

Good shows can make bad toys and bad shows can make fun toys. I never got into CHIPS or Dukes of Hazzard. But I can't deny there are fun play patterns there.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I liked the Dukes of Hazzard, I’m not sure but were they the last release of Mego characters in the 8” size?
Unfortunately that line never made a sheriff Roscoe Coltrane to go with Boss Hogg.

You know, I can't much disagree about Waltons merchandising. But there was also Sunshine Family and Jody, and Mego--as always--wanted to use a cheap license to tap, in this case, the "girls market". I don't care--I love the show, I love Megos, and I'm glad for Waltons Megos. I collected them over Happy Days, Dukes, or Starsky & Hutch.

And undeniably, there's some really great Waltons collectibles out there besides Mego--the Amsco house and lunchbox, for example.

I have bought at least 3 sets of Walton's because there ordinary people and look good in a crowd scene.
