    Colorforms memories

    So who had these?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TfHoUlk42k

I had 2 Barbie sets and a Hulk set. (the Hulk was a prize I donated to the church Grab bag, and wound up w/ my own present!) I love Colorforms! All kinds of fun on a rainy day, or if you were at home in bed w/ a cold. Today I have quite a collection: Star Trek, GIJoe (Adventure Team), POTA, the 2 Barbie sets I had as a kid, David Cassidy (yeah that's right!), CHIPs, Mork and Mindy, Michael Jackson and Sesame Street Magic Show. I also have newer ones for my school: Toy Story, Rugrats, Play House, Play Set, Play Castle. One of the kids I used to babysit for loved playing w/ these. One of her fave games, was dressing up the Colorforms Barbie to go see the Colorforms David Cassidy and Michael Jackson in concert! Hmmm...I wonder where she got that idea from?

The smell alone made them worthwhile. Maybe that's how kids in the 70s got high when they couldn't afford the real stuff.

I had a lot of fun with the Space:1999 set, I had others but for some reason they weren't as memorable.

I have the Batman set, a Pop-up Birthday Charlie Brown, Snoopy Come Home and Popeye. My daughter loves the pop-up one. She also has a modern Dora one.
                      It's all good!

I forgot I also have the Action Jackson one as well. My diver piece is bent and doesn't like to stay on. Sometimes it's fun to interchange the AJ pieces w/ the GIJoe pieces.

I remember having G.I. Joe Adventure Team, Star Trek, Batman, Superman (with sliding phone booth so he could change costumes), Spider-Man, Hulk and Castle Dracula during the 1970s. I would put the Colorforms on the different backgrounds such as Star Trek beaming down in Castle Dracula. Those were good times.

I remember getting a Yogi Bear set from Santa Claus at a local dept store as a present when I was little. I'd like to find one of those.

Wish I'd bought a couple of the KISS sets in the '70s...what are they going for, pretty decent bucks now, right?

They still make Colorforms but it seems they are marketed more as an activity playset. I see Spongebob, Wiggles, & Dora sets at the thrift stores a lot. Like Viewmasters, I guess they don't make them for anything other than little kid's series anymore if at all.

Anyone know if there were ever Christmas sets made? Any at all, or Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown?

I would have bet there was a dedicated tribute website for collectors about Colorforms but I couldn't find one.
