I haven't seen anyone really compare these yet.
The original Kenner Pieman was already pretty nice. He has a fabric hat, shirt and apron. For the time it was a terrific representation of character. The only real complaint I have is his berry bird Captain Cackle should have been made out of a softer plastic. His little feet, which are used to clip him onto Purpie's arm, are prone to breaking and chipping. He did originally have a pleasant grape scent which is sadly long gone.
The Boss Fight Pie Man looks great. Very cartoon accurate. Just awesome looking comes with a lot of accessories including Captain Cackle and two other berry birds. The downside, just like the Boss Fight Strawberry Shortcake figure, is his hat is a very heavy solid lump of plastic. Even on the included stand he will tip over very quickly wearing it. They should have learned by now to make these hats hollow and out of softer lighter plastic. His apron is very soft and flexible they could have used that kind of plastic. Seriously they couldn't figure out a tall, slender figure with very thin limbs plus a very heavy hat equals face plant. Luckily the vintage Kenner hat does fit and that is what I will be displaying him with.
He does very strongly smell like grapes.
