As part of Robin Week, celebrating the character's 85th anniversary, my latest article for 13th Dimension showcases the legacy of Dick Grayson's Boy Wonder in figural form!
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
Thanks Chris, very interesting. I love the puppet sculpt, too--even the mask texture.
Do you like the Golden Age-style Megolike Robin from the two-pack?
I really like the McFarlane E2 figure as well. I didn't know some had cloth capes.
You mean the Hasbro 9" Robin from the late 90s? I love that they did Dick Sprang Batman and Robin. But I'm not crazy abut the lack of black on Batman's cowl, or how they did Robin's cape.
Speaking of capes, McFarlane has REALLY upped their cape game latey. Many like E2 Robin come with wired, poseable cloth capes!
Great article and a great list! Three of my favorite Robins not listed are:
1. Parkdale/Mego 9" Robin. I wish someone would do a repro of the Parkdale Batman, Robin (which I own both) and Superman (which I would love to own).
2. DC Direct 13" Deluxe Collectors Edition Robin. It's a great looking figure with removable black and green masks. The portrait is top notch too.
3. Mattel DC Universe Classics Robin Variant Version. It pairs very well with the Silver Age Batman.
I had the Hot Toys Batman, and Robin on order, but the suit on Batman was so fragile, that I sent it back and canceled Robin. A mild regret.
And that reminds me that I haven't really looked at my Mezco One:12 Robin, The Boy Wonder figure yet.
