    Aurora Monsters of the Movies

I just finished up a few of this line and thought some here might enjoy seeing them.
First up is Frankenstein. This was my 2nd go around with this guy. I did one many years ago and then sold it off a few years later.
Now I am actively working on collecting and building the whole line of the figures (not interested in doing Ghidorah or Rodan)

    Next up is Dr Jekyll.
Never had any of these kits when I was a kid, only had the Monster Scenes, never even saw the MOTM kits until this century.
So this is my first go round with any of these.

      Finally I have Mr Hyde.
Kind of fitting since he goes hand-in-hand with Dr Jekyll

Not really a MOTM, but there was a 3rd head, kind of mid-transformation head that originally came in the Monster Scenes Dr Jekyll / Mr Hyde kit that these two came from.
I used it on another Mr Hyde body (it came in the Mr Hyde kit) and put it on a Graveyard Scenes base. Graveyard Scenes is a line of resin bases and sometimes figures that were produced to be adjacent to the Monster Scenes models and give you somewhere to put your MS kits.

Wow, really nice painting. Those are great kits.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

The only ones I had as a kid were King Kong and Godzilla, but they were never painted. I would like to try and get them again and this time around try my hand at painting them.

It was either 4th or 5th grade that I built/painted Godzilla. At the time I didn't care for Kong, but he's now become my favorite. You did a great job on your kits, tay666.

I especially like the subtle texturing on Frankie's face! Thanks for posting your work!

I received multiples of Aurora Godzilla at Christmas time one year and happily built 'em all with my Dad. Now that I'm skilled enough to do a borderline decent job of it, modern-day sticker shock keeps me just looking at cool pics like yours. Shame everything has become "collectible" and therefore premium priced. Please post if you do some more!

Those look great! I have always thought these were kind of inferior and a bit more primitive sculpt-wise to the original Aurora kits, which I have built repros of several times over the years. But your paint work really brought these to life, and makes me want to give them a go!

Excellent! I really enjoyed seeing these, thanks for sharing.

Somewhere I saw a Phantom of the Opera conversion for the MOTM Dracula.

It occurs to me that a neat custom triptych could also be made of the Jekyll/Hyde figures.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

                      Thanks for the kind words.
I had lots of fun painting these and hope to get to the other two I have for the line sometime in the next few months (Dracula and Creature) Maybe by then I will actually track down a Wolfman to round out the set.
I also have a couple more versions of Kogar to build as well (Moebius add him to the line several years ago)

I did do part of a Creature from the Black Lagoon last year on another Graveyard Scenes base.

                          Thanks.
I don't know if I would call it talent,. My brush control has gotten a lot better since the wife got me a magnifying light xmas before last.
It's amazing how much easier it is to paint things when you can actually see what you are doing :D

These really are sharp. Good job on them.
