modern Hasbro AT GI Joes this year??

For the past couple of years, Hasbro has put out some 12" classic GI Joe reissues around the holiday season.

Anybody know if they are planning on releasing anything this year?

I know what is up at the GI Joe club; just wondering if there will be any of those $10 Walmart guys on the shelves again.

Seems like they'd be showing up already.

I was wondering the same thing. The sets for the past two years have been great.

That is what I was thinking; but one can hope.

You would think Walmart might have something again... They have a few Star Wars sets again.

I'm in the Joe club, too. I assume it would have given us a heads-up if anything was planned--it seems to have good connections with Hasbro.

It's all the movie crap, now...

Be really cool if they would do the late 60's Adventures of GI Joe that turned into the Adventure Team.

Yeah, I think they are only pushing the movie stuff this year, unfortunately.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

^^ I forgot there was a movie this year. I'm not much of a RAH fan, kindof skipped my radar. I would suspect all resources are on that one. rats.

That '69 pre-AT Joe idea would have been really cool. I am always hoping to see the nurse as well.

Ah well, at least I have the AA talker this year.

The movie figs have been clogging up the pegs because they were $7-8 each. Wal-Mart finally dropped them to $5, so they are moving a bit again. The dvd release might have helped, too. Biggest problem is the later waves are tough to find because the pegs are still full of the overproduced early waves.....

I had heard some news early in 2009 about some old AT adventure lines getting re-released, but I believe those ended up getting relegated to Club exclusives. It would appear the emphasis on Joes will be centered around the second wave of movie figures that just came out, which are actually pretty cool. I doubt Hasbro wants to clog the toy isles with a different era Joe right now with their movie out on DVD. But I would have loved it if they had.

I'd loved to seen some more sets produced, probably next year though.

The only pseudo retro stuff planned are the 3 & 3/4 inch versions of the AT Joe line (entirely new sets, not truly repro in 3 3/4 inch format, but sort of hinting at the old Joe sets). Mainly repaints of current 80s vehicles, etc. So nothing that interests me a vintage Joe collector.

The Joe club is still releasing their repros of the talking GI Joes, however. This year's release is the talking Soldier.

That's too bad, the Wal-Mart exclusive last year was clearly a big hit (basing that on the empty shelves) and the perfect follow up this year would have been talking Joes.

                              ^^ Yes, a big hit.

But, it looks like Hasbro has chosen to follow the movie lead and have pegwarmers rather than the sellouts they have had in the past with the 40th anniversary and other reissue items. go figure.

There are still loads of cool things on the Joe site. I was hoping to find some of these lower budget Walmart things this year as well. I have a little stockpile going for my son with the hopes that he will enjoy the AT as much as I did when I was a kid.
