Remco & AHI Make it Happen in 1983!

REMCO AHI MAKE IT HAPPEN I recently found a Hong Trade catalogue from 1983 highlighting the toy manufacturers of the era. I plan to share pages from this book for the rest of the year. Our first subject is Remco/Azrak Hamway International. At this time, the manufacturing was done by a company called SOMA traders […]

Wow, that's a nice catalog! I remember being disappointed that the Sgt. Rock line didn't have the actual Easy Co. members like Bulldozer, Wildman, Icecream Soldier, etc. I love how they reused the monster's haunted house/lab playset as a blown-out house!

I have the monsters now (minus the Monsterizer), but as a kid just played with a friend's toys. I loved those things, and I always coveted a set of my own. That's what adult collecting is for.

I have never seen those Life Savers figures. Very Strawberry Shortcake-like. I'll have to asky my wife if she remembers those.

Sgt. Rock/Bad Guys: Because they were cheaper than G. I. Joe my brother and I had them. Yeah there was a reason they were cheaper but we got them for the weapons and sets. The Bad Guys ended up with Cobra as a special forces.

Universal Monsters: we had a complete run of the figures and the haunted house (still have it). There were times that they became the Creature Commandos lead by Sgt. Rock.

Our imagination would go through old because my Dad found a box of old comic books that had DC Comics War & Western comics so after reading them we would have crazy battles. Even created our own Dinosaur Island where the Joes/Cobras would battle.

      Those were fun times.

Surprised there's no mention of Warlord and Warrior Beasts.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
