    NFL Teammates

Everybody seems to forget about these little guys that predate "starting Line Ups" by a decade or so. These figures are close to Mego size and eventhough I'm not a big sports guy, I will cop to finding these pretty neat.
If anyone has an extra Green Bay Packer, I have a good friend who would probably love it.

Those guys are great! I remember seeing them in Sears(Ithink) wanting them but was denied.

Years later I picked up a few. Still a cool figure.

I've never seen these up close and often wonder if the new Gracelyn Toys figures arent remakes of these, with updated helmets? The first two waves, before they copied the Marvel Legends articulation for their bodies, sure looks pretty similar!?

It's a shame you never hear much about these today.

I remember seeing them, but I think I wasn't impressed because it was a generic player, not a likeness of anyone. (Also, they probably didn't have a Dolphin up here in Maryland).
            It's all good!

I had one as a kid (steelers) the football was held in place by a nub on the ball and a solt in the hand and the player's # was a decal so you could make him into your favorite (I never saw a black player though)

Loved those as a kid and remember always seeing them in the Sear's christmas catelog for the holidays. But, alas, I never actually owned one as a kid. Still don't. I stumbled across prices for them when I was searching for something else on Ebay and was floored at the value (or perceived value anyway). One figure was going for close to $150.00 (starting price). Just nuts, but then again if the market will fetch that, then it is what it is.

I always wanted these as a kid and thought they were so cool. I do now have 3 - a loose Cowboys who won't stand, a loose Steelers and a sweet loose complete Cardinals. I go back and forth with either selling them or trying to collect the others. They can be quite pricey.

These would make a cool PS card.

I was wondering what the collector's market was like for these. This is another one of those that I never had as a kid but always wanted. I guess I didn't want them enough as a kid, however, that I've tried to make up for not having them by collecting them now.

I still have both of my Cowboy guys from my childhood. I think I carried those to school everyday in the fall of 78. Plus, for some reason, a New England Patriot. He is in the old style Pats uniform. I think I'll dig him out and post him while the Pats are still good.

I knew a lot more about these when I was after them than I remember now. Prices vary greatly on them based on completeness (they each came with a stand, football, and numbers sheet) and on which team it was. The more popluar teams (Cowboys, Steelers, Dolphins, Giants) are actually the cheapest ones. Teams like the Cardinals, Chiefs, Jets, Bengals are actually more expensive. And the black figures are even more.

They are also customized for teams not around when they were issued. There were only 28 teams back then.

I stared at the catalog pages all the time, the whole NFL selection in the Wishbook was fascinating to me...I finally got a Rams player for my birthday 1979. Loved em..

I never had any interest in Football, but I thought these guys were cool. I remember wanting them as a kid, but there were so many other toys that I wanted more that I never really got into these guys.
