I love these guys! not a great looking Godzilla toy, but packs a hell of a wallop in the nostalgia department. I only have the 8" one, and a 5" one (can't find the imperial mark on either one but they are exactley the same as the 12" Godzilla by Imperial), and a similar if not uglier one made by "Dormei"? or something? I'd can't remember company name and don't want to disrupt my Godzilla collection to find out.
I Love the Universal monsters that Imperial did too (am I the only one?), OK, maybe love is a little strong of a word. I find shoddy/cheap toys on display with better made/designed toys seems to bring out the characteristics of each other.

I agree with that point. And don't tell anyone, but I kind of like the Placo 1991 Wolfman. But I certainly wouldn't want that to be the only Wolfman figure I had in my collection. (And the Placo line seems to be subject to more criticism than the Imperial Unis.) With respect to the Imperials, the figures I had the most problems with were the Mummy and the Wolfman. But that is just my opinion. So keep those Imperials on your shelf and enjoy them.

Speaking of the nice Imperial Godzilla ( I still like it), do any of you recall the rumors that Imperial also made a 12" King Kong to go with their 12" Godzilla?

I always thought it was a rumor or wondered why they did not create this? A number of years ago some guy on Ebay was selling his King kong figure collection with lots of rarites from Hong Kong. Sure enough Imperial's 12" Kong was among them. I lost the auction, but about a year back scored this knock off from around the time period (80's) that is very similar in style and size. Wish I had this back then

Cool Kong, I'd like to have one of those. How about some more pics of your Godzilla stuff. Looks like you have some really nice stuff, like that boxed Biollante for example. And a Mogera, with unbroken antennae? Man, I need one of those!

Oh man Impressive collection, I spot the Bandai Kong in there!

Yeah Imperial did make a 12 inch Kong as well as a 6 and I think 8 inch one. I passed on the 12 inch Kong back in the day because his legs weren't articulated. That's a great knock off of it you have though, looks a bit more fearsome.

I can see why you love this Godzilla, his paint and sculpt give him a knock-offlike charm, even tho he's a licensed product.
But at the same that generic Godzilla sculpt and hootchie paint job is exactly why I dislike this one, which is strange cause I usually love knock-offs. I think it's because this is a licensed product and they messed up, with knock-offs you expect weirdness like this

I have a large Imperial godzilla in my collection. I got it at a thrift store for $5. I always thought that it was a knockoff because of how cheesy the facial features are and the poorly painted eyes but I was shocked to find it has a Toho stamp on the bottom.

I found something very similar to this at the flea market today. I don't know if he's a knockoff or what. He doesn't have the big scales down his back, and the sculpt is a little different, but he does look like he's meant to be Godzilla. On his on foot is stamped "DOR MEI Hong Kong."

There were two editions, the one you have above and a slightly more Godzilla looking redish one (different design, I can take a pic). Both of these were VERY popular in the 80's and still appear from god knows what company today. Each of the two also have a zillion variations from skin design and color, to what parts can move, size, as well as the type of plastic used (for the one you have above, I picked up one edition that is literally made with the same type of plastic used in a regular model kit)

for the others asking, that is part of my main toy room and hard to walk into (why I held up the kong). Will take more pics and up them here hijacking the thread once again

ok, sorry for the thread hijacking but because I was asked, here are some pics of the back left corner of my toy room. Not trying to do bragging rights at all, but this is a very small display of the amount of crap I have here (godzilla and other toys are really all throughout the damn house). My mother instilled the "collector attitude" in me at a very young age (her dad threw away some items she knew would be a fortune today and hence she taught me how to keep things). Sure I was spoiled ( not crying spoiled, but in the sense of a very generous mom and one who knew to help buy certain things and had no problems with it when I was young with no money yet).

                          DEL:
the reddish other godzilla type I mentioned is in one of these pics. He is on the left side of the same shelf that your version is on in my photo.

I apologize for the amount of pics or load times it may cause for some of you

I'm loving that little Godzuki in front of the reddish version.

that would be this one here,

once ebay's search function is restored (not working right now) you can probably score him much cheaper than what this seller is asking. This little one was from Godzilla vs Space Godzilla.

On ebay a search for little godzilla or baby godzilla will bring it up

Great collection man, thanks for sharing. You definitely have some stuff that I still need for my Godzilla collection, like the Biollante, Mogera, big Mecha King Ghidora, etc. Nice set of Shoguns too. And you have some MIB Godaikins?? Wow, those babies aren't cheap!
