    Aurora Monster Model Question

    So;

Every so often someone puts something up for sale that's way out of my price range:

Aurora (not Revell!!) Monsters Of Movies Boxed Models - Mego Talk

*sigh* These bring up a few questions:

-They're in-scale with the Monster Scenes kits, right? I got the reissued Dracula, and he is. (I'm NEVER gonna finish that set....)
    -How many have been reissued?
-How many in the set? We were discussing the Revell Frankenstein; which doesn't seem to have been from an Aurora release. ould it have been a "lost" kit? Any more? Any rumours?

Oddly enough, it's tough to find info on this line.

    Moebius redid the following kits:
    The Mummy
    Frankenstein
    Dr. Jekyll as Mr. Hyde
Dr. Jekyll as Mr. Hyde Glow Version
    The Invisible Man
    Monster Scenes: The Hanging Cage
    Monster Scenes: The victim
    Monster Scenes: Frankenstein
    Monster Scenes: The Pendulum
    Monster Scenes: Giant Insect
    Monster Scenes: Dr. Deadly
    Gigantic Frankenstein
    Gigantic Frankenstein Glow Version

I think that only Gigantics Frankenstein have a bigger size. The others are in 1/8 scale.
I think that my list is complete for the reissues from Moebius.

      These 3 are not reissues.
They are original sculpts. Basically brand new kits from Moebius.

Yes they are in scale with the Monster Scenes.
The Dracula, Jeckyll, and Hyde were all originally Monster Scenes kits, that Aurora reused for the Monsters of the Movies line.
The MOM Frankenstein was a new sculpt for the line (as was the Creature)

I have a memory of a fish tank decoration of this piece. I remembered it because I had the original model as a kid. This is a really old memory, but I remember finding it odd that it was smaller than the model. Looked around the web for a photo, but couldn't find one.

I did see a picture of one boxed in a aution catolog years ago. It was a miniature regular Aurora creature with a "bubbler in it" Way expensive even back then.

By "regular" do you mean the original Aurora Creature (standing with both hands up) or the Monsters of the Movies series (swimming with one hand forward and the other down along the torso) The one I saw was MOM Creature pose. I thought it had a "bubbler" attached, but that could just be where it was placed in the tank. I saw it probably around five years after the MOM was released. Like I said, it's a real old memory.

Don, do you own this book?:

Amazon.com: Used and New: Aurora History and Price Guide
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

In the catolog I saw it was a minature version first issue Aurora creature. With the hands up not swimming. Was the MOM craeture an actual decoration or just a model in a fishtank?

                      Tragicly, no. Is it good?

Yeah; I remember those being EVERYWHERE when I was a kid. Dunno if it was intentionally modeled after the Aurora kit.... wasn't there a pic of the Creature in that pose what made the rounds back in the day?

I really believe it was a decoration. I also have a memory of seeing one in a gift shop some time in the early 80s. Probably didn't have the money or otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have purchased it. Although I could be totally wrong about this, when you build a model kit as a kid you tend to notice the same structure and design even when it's been reduced in size.
Sadly even if I could find an image, I couldn't post it here just yet. I still don't get an attachment option with my posts yet.
I talked with my friend "Steve" (original owner of Seattle's "Comic's Dungeon".) and he said he had seen the original Aurora Creature as a tank bubbler at "too high a price", but he was unaware of the MOM Creature as a tank decoration.
In all honesty, these memories are so strong, I feel compelled to support them with no evidences.
