    Star Bird Trading Card

Card #27 is Milton Bradley's Star Bird Avenger, this card wasn't decided by me or the factor of what I had as a kid, to be honest I was never aware of this toy back in '79. I held a contest at the Mego Museum Trading Card Forum (where you can trade PS cards) and this was the winner. From everyone I've talked to about this, Starbird was an awesome toy full of the electronic "bells and whistles" that the Kenner Star Wars vehicles weren't.
I'll be holding a contest for more cards this month, if you live in the Toronto area check out the Toronto Toy Show November 22nd as they'll be readily available there as well.

A great toy. Kid next farm over had one, and it was truly a cool unit. My only complaint against it, was they didnt make the cockpit so it could open and hold a 3 3/4" figure. If they had, these things would've sold like crazy...especially the fighter, which looks suspiciously like a Colonial Viper crossed with an x-wing fighter.

I didnt know there was a command base...That would be neat to have. Wish the picture of the figurines was larger? Were they generic spacemen type's, or something better?

How can anyone not love a cool spaceship with a Trans Am eagle on it's hood ?
        Only in the 70's

I never owned one, but my best buddy had one and we used to play with it often ... Back in the day I thought it was a Star Wars Y-wing toy.

Never had this nor have I ever seen it before, but looks like a cool toy, especially combined with that command base

Found one of these at a yard sale this summer (anybody have a spare fin for me?). I never had one as a kid, but I do remember them well.

            Awesome!

                re

I would love to own a copy of that card!! I loved the Star Bird

And here is a funny coincidence with the card's timing. My brother came down to visit and yesturday he dug out of his closet Star Bird's enemy the black version invader ship. He really thought it no longer worked, so after he went home I ran out and bought a new 9 volt battery. I threw it in and then left a 40 second sound clip on his cell phone of the ship flying high and low as well as the wonderful laser shooting sound that probably gave most parents a nasty headache back in the day.

                Great card!

I'm 99% sure I had one of these as a kid. The only reason I'm not 100% sure is I don't remember ever getting rid of it and the kid across the street had a few of them, so I may just remember playing with one of his. Cool toy!

I had one and loved it......until my bully older cousin made me drop it and it stopped working.

I actually just traded it away to my local toy store for some Joes. Neither of us could remember the name of it, because the decals were gone.

I never saw any of the other toys from this line back then. I was the only kid that I recall having one in my neighborhood, actually.

You have a local toy store that deals in vintage toys?

Yeah, in downtown Portland, this guy Tristan just opened a toy/comic book store called the Funbox. It's so awesome. The toy side is really cramped and small, but he has a good selection of '80-'90s stuff.

I trade some of my oddball stuff for GI Joes, because that's all I collect these days. He got my M.A.S.K. collection, the Starbird, my lone Centurion, a Wheeled Warrior, some knockoff Transformer clones and Go-Bots, etc. All these played-with and incomplete toys I had as a kid. He loves seeing what I'll bring in, and he's really fair with trades. He just likes having neat new stuff, and he knows I'm not in it for the money.

He's got a nice MOTU collection display, and he put my Boulder Hill and vehicles right up front when you walk in. It was a little sad to part with them after all these years, but I just can't do it all!
