Rubber Snakes, Alligators and Poopatroopers

It's amazing how much stuff like rubber snakes and alligators are part of childhood, we just seem drawn to these kinds of items when we're kids. Imperial Toys seemed to have a great handle on this and seeing as how they're still in business to this day, this stuff sells. I'm pretty sure I had an Alfie Alligator.

Oh man, I was obsessed with rubber reptiles (and insects, amphibians, dinosaurs, etc). I had that turtle, snake and alligator plus a whole bunch more, I loved that stuff. My favourite was a big rubber alligator that had a red collar and chain, like a dog. One day I left him on the bus and was very sad. I never saw him again.

The check out counter in the local Ben Franklin toy dept. had that display of Poopatroopers for years. And I bought untold thousands of them!

I can't tell you how many times my friend George and I would throw poopatroopers out his 3rd-floor apartment window. That was like a million miles high when I was 7! Then we'd run down and pick them up and start over. The simple parachute toy was a brilliant invention. I loved those things!

What year is this catalog from? I have the '72 Imperial catalog. It looks very similar to yours, but it has the same poopatrooper/teeny bouncer display on a page with other bouncy balls. I need to get the whole catalog scanned one of these days. I love these guys. Check out my collection here:

I have a few various rubber bats. However when it comes to this type of toyline (rubber monsters), I will never sell them

I had the poopatroopers for sure, does anybody remember paratroopers that were plastic, about 4 inches long and looked like the Nutty Mads from Marx? I've never seen any in recent times, but remember having a bunch of them in the 70's.
