I too was wondering if you've dipped your toes into Japanese Jumbo Machinder collecting yet? Or maybe the reissues put out by Uni-Five around 10 years ago? I have a few of them, they are really nice and much cheaper than original Popy JMs.Comment

Very nice. Talk about impressive toys for kids, right? Having 24 inch robots!
I'm a Daimos and a Rodan away from completing my collection.
That Rodan is a tough one.....

Yep, 2 foot tall robots that shoot missiles. It doesn't get better than that for a kid.
Rodan is indeed a toughy. And unlike the other US released Jumbo Machinders, Rodan (who I guess you could call an honourary Jumbo) didn't get any kind of release in Japan, so collectors over there compete for this guy too (I don't think that any Rodan toy has ever been released in Japan that's as big as the Mattel one is).
I still need a Mattel Rodan, Raydeen and Goldorak. On my last trip to Japan, I very stupidly passed on a boxed Popy Raydeen (with the proper bow fist on his left arm instead of the Iron Cutter fist that the US version has). It was the last day of our trip, suitcases were already packed and sent to the airport and I stumbled upon this guy for around $250 when I took one last look at a couple toy stores. I should have just bought him and left him at my father-in-law's house to pick up on our next trip. One of my biggest regrets as far as passing up a toy.Comment

Very nice Will! I didn't know you collected these. You are full of surprises...can't wait to see your collection one day.Comment

Thanks guys (and gals!) for the nice feedback, I'm glad everyone is digging these.
I am after some Jumbo Machinders next. I've seen enough decently priced vintage Popys over the years to resist buying the Unifives, I'd only want to replace them eventualy if I did. A mint boxed Tetsujin 28 (Gigantor as most of us knew him growing up) is my grail from this line, one day...
Cheers!
