It was awkward. And that's coming from a guy who dresses funny every day. I'm used to getting strange looks from people and being randomly asked if I'm headed to a costume party when I'm just out at the store (I think I've mentioned before that due to watching WAY too much TV growing up and not actually having any kind of social life, my sense of style is a bit askew), but dressing like the Indian from the Village People is a whole different thing. The guy dressed as the construction worker had it easy; he takes off his hat and he just looks like a guy in a plaid shirt. Sure, it's sleeveless, but I'm in the south, so no one looks twice at a guy in a sleeveless plaid shirt - hell, if it's Sunday, he might be on his way back from church. But if you dress like the Indian from the Village People and go to a small town redneck bar, you better stay with your group!

I'd like to meet the guy who collects these Halloween costumes. You just know somebody does.

I've heard the motorcycle guy referred to s "The Leather Man" which is even more disturbing.

I'll bet those Village People costumes were a hit, actually. When I was six I loved them. Why wouldn't a kid, when you think about it? They had simplistic anthemic songs and each one was dressed up like something you pretend to be when you're a little boy-- indian, cowboy, policeman, etc.

What surprises me more is that I don't think I've ever seen those costumes, even now I would think I'd see them in more kitschy stores on the North Side (Chicago) but I can't recall ever seeing one!

              Village People were great.

Back in the late 70's I was into Floyd, Zeppelin, Skynyrd and still loved the Village People

Is that Uncle Floyd or Floyd Lawson (the barber on The Andy Griffith Show)?
