    Booo the Bat From Imperial

Imperial Toy Corporation made (and still makes) terrific rack toys but the ultimate Halloween item has to be the rubber bat. It's almost an institution unto itself and one tradition that we still insist upon in the PS household (which we never refer to it as)

Man, love all of Imperial's names for the various bugs and animals. Back in the day when the local station in Peoria aired King Kong VS. Godzilla they used that Congo Gorilla in the promo spots.

Hard to believe they sold a million squirrel monkeys!

Was Boney Benny a dangler or a bendie? I still see dangler skeletons like that today.

Why are jigglers so darn cool to me?!?!? I'm talking to you, Congo. Jigglers were crappy, cheap replacements for action figures back in the day. They were grandma's way of telling me she loved me, but not enough to make a special trip to the toy when she could grab Boney Benny for a buck at the drug store. Ah, but clearly I'm still grasping for that wisp of affection. I want a Congo!!!

Percentage of kids that knew that their bat had a name, and that it was Booo:

You've got to give it to Imperial, not only could they sell to kids, they put a pretty persuasive case together for shop owners at wholesale. Wanna be a millionaire?

Oh man I had the alligator, the bat and the skeleton
They also made a mummy which I had, and there was also a shark.
There was store here called Fatmans that was a holiday store, and changed over the course of the year as to what holiday was nearest.
They had barrels in there full of these toys and toys like them.

I had that monkey. I wish they'd make him again. I wasn't impressed with the rubber stuff Imperial was making when I worked on toys. I think they make all their money from BUBBLES.

Man, who didn't have that alligator? I think a few of them are still floating around my school.

Got anything else from Imperial dated 1973? They were still making the original poopatroopers then.
