Chris sent in the cool pic of his KIng Kong merchandise from the 1977 remake, all of this stuff was made by Mego and is really hard to find. I have to admit I love that Japanese Vinyl.

oh man Chris you know Im all over that stuff ! love it ! that World Trade Center Playset is the Holy Grail to Find Mint in Box and The Mego model has gone up in value but still you can get lucky and find one at a reasonble price.The Japanese Bullmark/Mego items are the coolest items and very hard to obtain

Thanks for the nice comments, guys. I really have a soft spot for the Kong stuff related to the 1976 film. Maybe because I had the theatrical teaser poster hanging up in my room for years when I was a kid, I've always loved that iconic painting.

I've found that the smaller stuffed Kong (around 15" tall) shows up most often. The middle sized (which I'm still missing) and the large ones are really tough to find. And any of them with tags are really uncommon. The bagged Japanese vinyl I have has three toy company names on the packaging, Mego, Takara and Onda. Mego's name is probably there just because they were the company that did the sublicensing, I think Onda is the company that actually made the toy (they were a minor Japanese toy manufacturer in the 70's. Not much is known about them, but it is speculated that they had some sort of partnership with Takara)

The toy I'm really trying to find is another bagged Kong vinyl made by Bullmark (that one has a header card with "King Kong" written in English). He is so hard to track down that I can't even find a pic of it on the internet, I've only seen it in John Bonavita's Mego book.
