    Halloween Countdown 2009

I can't believe it's October already, that means the countdown to my favourite holiday has begun. Like every year, I'm going to be running a Horror themed bonus feature for the beginning of the month and flip the switch to total "Orange and Black" by the end.

Lots of fun stuff this season, four new catalogs, a new gallery and tons of cool and hilarious merchandise.

The best part is, I'm not alone, bloggers across the world unit to celebrate October 31st in style, for more spooky goodness check out this site Countdown to Halloween
Here are some cool Catalogs from last Halloween that I'd kind of forgotten about:

Rapco made really groovy craft kits back in the 1970s but most collectors remember them best for their line of Universal Monster products. The 1975 Rapco Cataloggives you an idea as to why these items are sought after monster collectibles now.

Before we had VCRs we had home projection systems (well some of us) which gave us the ability to play short silent clips from Hollywood classics like the Universal Monster films. The 1973 Castle Films Catalogis a fun trip into sadly, an obsolete form of commerce.

Check out our gallery of vintage Trick or Treat Shots from last year, so much goodness....

      AHHHHH!!!! AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Bottlecutters!!!! THERE'S an accident waiting to happen. Again and again and again....

Say; a few points about the 1982 Don Post catalogue:

-Tor Johnson looks like Don Rickles. (which begs the question; which is TRULY scarier?)
-Syngenor? From "Scared to Death?" It looks liek Syngenor from.... you know; "Syngenor." Which I thought came out late 80's. What's the deal?
-HEY! The Cowardly Lion looks like Barf from "Spaceballs!"

The one holiday I really look forward to each year.
It's not as big here yet as it is in the States, but each year it's growing, I'm loving it.
Going out today to get more Halloween decorations, need more tombstones for the cemetery in my garden

Scared to Death/Syngenor came out in 1981. I've never seen the film but that video box was everywhere...

I plugged up my big light up plastic Dracula, Frankenstein, ghost and Jack-o-lantern last night, and hung my coated-paper Lugosi and Karloff decorations on the living room windows! Halloween is here! I love it!!!

Can't wait to see more stuff B. PS does the 'ween in style!

I'm torn if I'm actually gonna decorate this year. I probably will. I have glow in the dark window clings, an LED punpkin for the window and a felt cat and ghost for the front door. I'll probably do a monster movie marathon and greet the Trick-or-treaters.

Nothing like Halloween, we went all out last year. decorations in and outside the house and a big party. But with baby coming there's no way this year, he's actually due on Halloween day

We have a new privacy fence up that comes into our front yard somewhat. I'm thinking of making stuffing some clothes and having a monster climbing it. I've got a light-up skull...

                            >Scared to Death/Syngenor came out in 1981. I've never seen the film but that video box was everywhere...

Hmmmm.... I read the review on the IMDB, but it's not the Syngenor I remember. This is:

                            http://www.badmovies.org/movies/syngenor/

He gives the date as 1990, which is closer to what I remembered. But it IS the same monster, and that mask DID come out 10 years before....

                            >I love Halloween and this is a great way to appreciate the holiday.

I used to really look forward to it. (Even tried claiming it as a religious holiday, since it WAS appropriated from the Celts.) We'd have an appropriately themed all night game as the hilight to the day. Unfortunately the guys are all gone now, and I'm usually on duty that night.

                            *sigh*

Syngenor is the sequel to "Scared to Death" apparently, bet it's just a remake.
