24 years and at last I have him 1985 V2 Snake Eyes

ok as a kid GI Joe figures were my life ... for a good 4 years from '85 to '88. Of course a few figures always were hot and I never could find at the store. but got most of them from my cousins like Storm Shadow and Firefly. But Snake Eyes I never found.

Even as I've been collecting as an adult I always got outbid on mint ones on ebay, ... one time I was so sick of being outbid I put a bid of $150 on one mint and complete ... only to find it sold for $155 lol lol

well a couple weeks ago looking for hidden mego deals ... I found this lot Starwars Figures 1970's 80 see picture Very Rare lot3 - eBay (item 150367903849 end time Aug-30-09 11:30:49 PDT)

with shipping the lot cost me $10 and the Snake eyes is as mint as they get ..

anyone have an extra Uzi, sword, backpack and timber the wolf laying around?? lol

Check Ebay. I recently went through my Joe's and found out that the original mail order version for Cobra commander (with the ditched block style cobra logo) I have had his thumb broken off. How is beyond me because that was one figure I did not play with.
At any rate I looked on ebay for cobra commander and sure enough I found someone selling parts. I was able to purchase both left and right straight arm versions with intact thumbs (original not repo) to fix mine

this led me to look just for parts to create some customs. I was surprised at what I was seeing and for the cheap prices they were going for (like ver 1 snake eyes head for 2.00$, etc)

do a check for gi joe (sometimes people do not use the period-- g.i. joe) timber (or wolf) and see if anything shows up

Great find, Russ! These Joes were huge in my life from '82 to '88.

Never really cared for the little figures but I'm glad you got your dream guy Russ. I knwo how that feels. I just got a comic last week that I've been trying to find that specific issue in nice shape for over 20 years.

I just did a completed auction search on ebay and it doesnt seem like these are very hard to come by. I would've snatched this guy up for that price to GI JOE SNAKE EYES (V2) figure Complete 1985 On Card - eBay (item 270453039328 end time Sep-13-09 15:03:28 PDT).

yeah he's an odd one ... his price goes all over the place and every time I find one in good shape with good paint ... it takes off to higher than I want to pay.

he's still one of the toughest ones to come by complete and mint(he usually has either broken thumbs or crotch) but from the carded series. him along with Storm Shadow and Firefly usually command atleast $50 and that's a lot for a loose Joe

Wow, and not a single Star Wars figure in the lot! What a deal! I'll glad that I still have all of the 3 3/4 Joes from when I was a kid. It would be a real pain to try to pick up all of the figures and accessories now. A few of my straight arm guys are broken and I think I painted one or two of them, but other than that, they're all pretty near mint and complete (which really saves me from having to pay outrageous prices for them today!)
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

Congrats! I wasn't into Joe during the first two waves. I only got into it once the cartoon aired, so I really wanted the version 2 Snake-Eyes. I could never find him. The first Snake-Eyes I had was the first 12" Hall-of-Fame figure in the hockey mask suit!

snake eyes was always my favorite. Still have all of them from 1982 to about 1986. I liked the original one that was all black. I need to dig them out again.
