Back in the day when all I could afford was a collector book or two to drool over the pictures I planned out lines i never thought I could get. Now with Authentic Reproductions I got a lot of those expensive lines. The Action Man and GI Joe, The Aurora stuff, Mego .
It is hard to keep control . I hope just having the Plaid Stallions cards i can save myself from getting a lot of old stuff.
Its just the obsession. Sometimes its not even the money just thetime that I feel Ive lost. I would have 25 cases too over the years if I had kept everything.
I get tempted sometimes. Liek when I saw They FINALLY released Big Frankie and I cant believe thyve rereleased Dr Deadly.
Ive met a few collectors that literally did "colect them all" and were misaerable. One older guy had his entire garage full of cases even cases hanging halfway down from the ceilings full of tin trucks.
I once had an original wood and plaster headed Superman doll, THE FIRST, half paid off. It was 500 bucks and I just said Im sorry I cant do this. What would I do with it except worry about it like teh owner of a priceless vintage car?
Hmm . Now MARX sets ARE cool. And I suspect a lot of those collectors are old enough to sell off thier sets now . . .
