But I always thought Captain Action's hands & body sculpt we're waaay ahead of what Hasbro did for GI Joe. His hands could hold anything & looked realistic.
An advantage the Cappy may exploit against GI Joe one day in GIJ?

Yeah, I never understood the reason behind GI Joe's original "pincher" hand sculpt.

It was for holding a gun.

Great tv commercial, wow the Cap had tons of outfits,i like the Phantom and Flash Gordon outfits.

Were the Green Hornet and Kato outfits produced later,as i didn't see them on the tv ad.

The original 60's run consisted of Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, Captain America, Aquaman, the Phantom, The Lone Ranger (and Tonto), Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Sgt. Fury, Steve Canyon, and the Green Hornet (not counting Dr. Evil of course). There were also a number of suits for Action Boy -- including Robin, Superboy and Aqualad).

The Kato outfit you mentioned did not arrive until years later (1998) when briefly revived by Playing Mantis (we also got a Kabai Singh for the Phantom to fight! and a Ming for Flash to battle!)

Never had one or knew anyone who did hence my non-interest in ever collecting this line. (We tend to like/collect things we had or liked as a child). I do think he's cool now but way too expensive to start collecting at this point.

True.. my Captain Action childhood memories, being a little older, are like many folks' Mego Memories (getting them as holiday presents etc...).

Even so, I "adopted" the Mego line years later (in the 70's) as a collectible , seeing it as a "spiritual" successor to CA (albeit in a smaller size), the same way you might look at CA as a "big Mego-like ancestor"! So, we can expand past the nostalgia element, though it helps to be rooted in it in some way...

I didn't have Cap as a kid, but I kinda started liking this line b/c of a cool layout I saw in the old Collecting Toys magazine. I really would have like Cap as a hero in his own right. They did have kinda cool playsets, and a villain back then. I do have a Green Hornet Playing Mantis Cap though.
