Help...Line of VW vans Mego Scale.

I know I saw a thread or link someplace that had a variety of VW Vans that were similar in scale and design to the Joker mobile. Possibly produced by another company, but nearly identicle as far as the basic design.
I think someone was customizing them or something. Anybody know the brand or have a link??

I had the Spiderman Crime Lab van which was made by Empire. I'm not sure if that's what you're talking about, but it was pretty cool.

If your thinking more Modern, the Bratz line put out a properly scaled VW van. With the line in clearance right now, I doubt youll find any, but its worth a look.

MGA is relaunching the line with a slightly different look and a new name..maybe the vehicles will be relaunched then? Mattel is humming and hawing about releasing new Bratz stuff under the Mattel brand too, so you never know...these might be back in number soon?

I've made a few custom superhero vans using beat up Batlabs and Jokermobiles. I always found the Empire vans a little too big for the 8" mego line but that's just me.

Is it just me or does the idea of Hulk either driving a van or flying a helicopter seem kind of strange?!

Tim, That may be what I saw. I'll have to keep my eye out for a beat up one. Did you have pics of your customs posted someplace??

Yeah, I always had some trouble with hulk related vehicles. Obviously its just a marketing technique, but it never made sense to me even as a kid. I mean, he would just chew this stuff up and throw it someplace.

Here's a few pics of the Cap Lab, Ironman and Green Goblin vans. These were posted in the Custom Forum but it's been sometime ago. I haven't had much time to do more but do have plans to do three more soon.

Yeah Tim, That group shot is exactly the pic I saw before. Those are great. Nice change up for custom style work from doing figures. Thanks for posting it.

These were very cool I never understood why Spiderman needed the helicopter and the Hulk in either one is kind of funny. The custom vans are awesome Marvelmania.

I think Empire had a clever marketing strategy, making things like the vans when they did not make the figures themselves. It's definitely a niche market move, but I think it was a sharp idea back then.

There used to be more of this sort of thing (I remember some generic vehicles marketed for use with Super Powers-sized figures), but I think the diversity of sizes and the like has limited or ended that approach.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

This kind of niche toymaking still exists, you just see less of it nowadays. At K-Mart yesterday, I saw a generic wooden doll house kit, decorated as a cute haunted house...clearly meant for Monster High dolls.

Tim's custom VW vans are just epic awesomeness. I especially love the Captain America.
