Would He-Man have been a Mego hit?

Oh, another exercise in alternate timelines.....

What if it wasn't Mattel that came up with He-Man in the early '80s but rather Marty Abrams and the result was the Masters of the Universe was a Mego property..... 8" scale, cloth (loincloths! lol!) covered..

What would have happened?

Would it have carried the 8" sca;e into another decade (or two?)

Would the vehicles have been made at this slightly larger scale??

Could you see the side effects.... cross overs (playwise) with Marvel and DC superheroes, Apes, Star Trek etc....

or should the folks at Eternia have stayed right where they are...

Would the Mego Museum be Megomuseum.org in that case (a tip of the helmet to the primary He-Man site)??

Would it have made YOU a He-Man? Are you one anyways?? ('Fess up.. we won't tell)..

What if Marty had been the one with the Power???

Which reminds me, why DON'T we see a lot more Masters of the Universe Mego customs???

I actually played with my WGSH and MOTU figures together, esp. after Superman met He-Man in DC Comics Presents, and that free MOTU preview comic. I rationalized the MOTU guys would be 8" tall if they would stop squatting!!!

I think Marty was out of the picture by the time MOTU was developed, and Mego's day of developing homegrown line was gone. So I can't see it coming together there.

I have to admit that poses a curious question , How would He-Man done if it was a mego product ? Would it be a 6" figure or 8" figure ? Would it Utilize a new body or the 8" figure body. I agree with Chris it is unlikely it would have come together. Had they done Thundarr and especially in the 8" scale, I'd probably not be likely to see them doing this as another line.

For the purposes of this discussion, I was imagining that they would hypothetically folded the He-Man line into the already successful 8" line. That alone, would have caused major ripples, I think. If you imagine it as a 6" line, made by Mego, it opens up a different can of worms... (and begs to ask the question whether Mego fans would have preferred He-Man in scale with their WGSH/Trek etc.. or in 6")

What do you guys think?

Yeah, the new limited MOTUC classics line (available only at Mattycollector.com) is selling beyond Mattel's wildest dreams... sells out in a hour or two (one figure offered per month online). Tomorrow's Man at Arms day btw...
