Cool countdown
I still remember back in the 80's I bought a Mr T rubber full headmask from Spencers.
A short while later I was reading in my local newspaper it was deemed controversial because a rights group said it's African American facial features were too exaggerated.
I wish I still had it ... might be worth a few bucks today -
When I was around ten or so, my grandma was diagnosed with Alhemier's Disease. when the dementia set in, she became obsessed with the A-Team and Mr.T. She collected all the toys (for herself, not her ten year old grandson), covered the fridge in Mr.T stickers like a schoolgirl would her locker, and talked about Mr.T all the time. She was extremely upset when the plug was finally pulled on the show. To me, it's a bitter sweet memory, half really funny because of the obsurdedness of it, and half depressing because that show could have been milked for one more year. Anyway, true story, I couldn't make that up.Comment

When I first started teaching pre-school, my class was called The A-Team. I had a big Mr. T poster in my classroom. I have an audio tape called Mr. T's Commandments I used to play for them, and I had the "Mr. T & Me" book series for them too. And of course when I read it, I had to use the voice! At a toy show some years back I bought a Mr. T doll, but it was made of cheap plastic and was accidentally broken by one of the kids I used to babysit.

Funny stuff. Reading this makes me think of the SNL sketch of Mr. and Mrs. T Bloody Mary Mix.

That was my first thought as well.
But then again...
It's not odd to see Mr T with a gun... that was the big schtick of the A-Team after all. They were practically NRA Poster Children.
What was fascinating to me was Mr T's appearances on the Howard Stern show in the late nineties. A huge turnabout after spending the eighties with Nancy "Just Say No" Reagan in anti-drug PSA's.
He had become a Pot advocate after it helped him cope with his battle against cancer. Of course he referred to Cancer as if it were a person he was fighting. He made it sound like Pot was to him like Spinach was to Popeye as he fought back against Cancer.Last edited by samurainoir; May 12, '09, 3:11 PM.Comment

I thought Mr. T was cool for his time. I use to love to watch the A-Team when I was younger to see what kind of stuff they would make out of basically a bunch of junk. Kind of like McGyver. It was also funny watching them have to put Mr. T out because he was too afraid to fly any where.
I still have a Mr. T doll and some sealed wax packs as well as loose cards. Maybe other stuff. I really do not even remember what all I do have anymore. Too much stuff!
I have had several people jokingly call me Mr. T some times because of all of the gold jewelry that I wear. Some even jokingly call it a Mr. T starter kit. My gf just calls me The Money Man. Hence forth my custom figure Money Man.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
