Thanks! I kind of figured as much on the Barbie being a dead market so to speak. When Mattel made the statement that they could circle the Earth "X" amount of times with all of the Barbies they made one has to question how rare could these really be? My gf still likes to collect them because they are "pretty". Ohh well, What ever makes her happy. At least she is leaving me and my Mego's alone when she is collecting her Barbies. Plus I get bonus points for finding her Barbies so it is not a total loss.

On another note back in the day when I use to seriously run the stores at all hours of the day and night looking for stuff I had picked up the first Harley Barbie when it first came out. I usually do not flip stuff when I buy it. However, a collector knew that I had it and wanted it really bad. (This was before my gf started collecting Barbie) I think that I gave like $50.00 for it new at Toys R US and sold it for $700.00 at the time. I think they were going for a grand at peak during that time. Not a bad little profit just for picking up a doll in my regular every day journeys looking for the good stuff. I am not sure what it is worth these days. The last that I looked the value had decreased. No big suprise there. Grant it that finds like that does not happen on a daily basis. Especially as it pertains to Barbies. So that would be a rare exception of the case.

I have that same first edition Harley Barbie. Nice doll but you'd be lucky to get the original shelf price for it now. Once the insane amount of speculators the Barbie hobby had moved on, the artificially over inflated after market collapsed.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Isn't it just amazing what speculators can do to artificially adjust the market value from up to down and vice versa? Same things goes with the stock market as well. It is just like a game of musical chairs. All that really matters is who is left standing in the end when the music stops.
