The Six Million Dollar Man Trading Card

It pretty much had to happen, Card #20 is the Six Million Dollar Man and for good reason.


My own mother will tell me how she was almost trampled to death at a Zellers store trying to get me this guy for Christmas 1975, (she succeeded) One of the problems of working on this blog is that it gives me the inclination to reunite with some old toys I never had the desire to before and I bought my first bionic man doll this week. It was bigger than me...



I know I have a vintage shot of me with ol' Steve Austin but I can't find it for the life of me.

That was one of my favorite toys as a kid and I had a bunch of the playsets and accessories (but no Oscar/Bigfoot/Bionic Woman). I really intend on replacing it someday but I'm really picky and frugal at the same time which doesn't always go hand-in-hand when buying vintage toys.
My main concern is the deterioration of the rubber skin on the arm which to me was the coolest thing on the figure so to have one without being able to roll up his skin just wouldn't get me as excited.

I have NONE of these new cards yet Brian. (Or the MM cards either!) are you going to be having any contests or giveaways to win some sets?

I had Jaime Sommers as a kid, my cousin Dane had the Six Million Dollar Man. We would get together and use his brothers' fuzzhead GIJoes for the villains. The only playset I had was the Bionic Beauty Salon. Now I have everybody, Jaime, Steve, Oscar, Bigfoot, Fembot, Maskatron, and a bunch of playsets. A couple of years ago, I was even Steve Austin for Halloween. (that's right, I said it!) I have both shows courtesy of the Sci-Fi Channel, and I hope to get the card soon.

I had SMDM, Oscar, Maskatron, Bigfoot and Bionic Woman.....definitely a favorite line when I was a kid. Awesome card!

I also still have many of my SMDM toys from when I was a kid and of course many that I've picked up sense of SMDM & BW. I hope they do cards of the other characters as well...Bigfoot, Oscar and maybe even the playsets...mission vehicle, OSI headquarters, Dome house etc!

For those interested, the Six Million Dollar Man was based on a book called "Cyborg" by Martin Caidin. The technology in the book is a bit dated but it was a very good read - and interesting to see the original vision of the story.
