    help ID an Ideal doll

    Hiya folks,

    Anybody seen this fellow before?
He came from a Mexican flea dressed in the CA uniform.
Back is marked Ideal toy corp. B12 1/2
blow molded, non jointed arms/legs. Swivel joints at shoulders, hips, neck.
Cannot find a mark on the head.

    Thanks in advance.
    rche

The head is James Bond (Sean Connery) made by Gilbert in the 60's

      hiya Mike,

I thought he vaguely resembled Sean, so I started to look into that one. I think it is the Bond doll. Gilbert apparently used an Ideal body with a spring action arm? I have never been into this line and don't know anything about it. Most of the Bond items I am finding seem to have dark brown or black hair. This fellow is lighter than that.
Anyone know if they used the headsculpt for any other figures?

      thanks again.

edit: It does indeed have a spring arm.
well then; ya learn something new every day

Ok, here is the next question.

What is the spring arm supposed to do. This one is loose and rattling around in the body.
Is it a karate chop sort of thing? Or is it a quick draw sort of thing?

        once again, thanks

You got me on that one

I never owned any of the Gilbert Bonds or even held them in my hands.

I just admire them from afar

Ideal did a knock version of JB ,which still rare wanted
The gilbert version has a smaller head , spring loaded Quick draw arm, draws pistol.
Easily found broken on loose dolls
the other dolls IN THE SPY SERIES is Odd jOb,the 2 men from U.N.C.L.E. AND HONEY WEST
Clean his face and Find one of kens suits and dress him, he a nice find.
I dressed mine in a ken white dinner jacket suit
shoes Ken will fit but Big jim fit even better.
