    $1oo 90s Star Wars figures !!!!!

Over the weekend we did some Flea Market spelunking. We took a ride out to a place near Aiken Sc called the Anitque mall. They had different rooms and I found the one with toys in it. I walked in and looked around , saw some 1995 Power of the Force Figures. I picked one up and looked at $99.99. Some lady comes over and goes "DOnt handle those !!!" I looked at her and She explained that those were vintage SW figures and if I damaged them Id have to buy one. I looked at her and said lady, all 4 of these are worth 25-30 bucks tops. So I was asked to leave!! Seriously. Some people kill me. My girlfriend came out and is like what did you do? I said I told that lady that her vintage STar Wars figures were worth about 30 bucks, not the 400 she was wanting. Sure enough when I got home I checked the prices, the 4 were worth about 20 bucks.
Anybody else ever have anything like this happen?

There is an antique store near me with different booths for different dealers. One dealer has some 40's-50's pressed steel trucks, cranes, etc. they are not the good brands and look like they were dug out the bottom of a lake after many years, they have so much rust, plus all are severely damaged in many different ways (missing axles, wheels, frames bent, etc). He has anywhere from $200 - $400 each (about 5 of them).

I would give $20 for all 5 of them.

I finally went in there one day he was working and I told him that his prices were just stupid. He says he priced them at 1/2 book and has moved several!!! I just laughed and thought he was full of cow dung or ripping people off!!!

yeah i've seen that many times ....Same thing in a little antique mall some guy had these loose vintage Star Wars with no weapons at $20-$30 each, these were like the common ones like Vader,Chewy,Obi-wan.I told him nicely that they weren't worth anything near that and he said well don't buy them then. The comic store I buy from was right next door,I told him to go check them out, cause they had the exact same figures for $3-$5 each

Next time I passed by the window they were gone

As much as I love shopping in antique malls, it's really no wonder eBay is killing them. In the antique malls around here, dealers can pay around $150 a month for that little booth they have... that's why their prices tend to be so crazy.

Yep. Funny to me. Places like that see Star Wars or Superhero or whatever and think $$$$ and then they sit and sit and sit and jags like that lady saturday wonder why they wont sell.
Anybody see that episode of Oprah that aired around 2000-2001 about colleting Antiques, they had some guy that had a boxed luke and a boxed leia and said they could bring 4- to 5 grand. This was actually mentioned in an issue of star wars insider, where Steve Sansasweet talked about how people who have no clue see Star Wars see the name and think its automatically worth thousands. People like this mark stuff too high and wonder why it wont sell.
I was talking to some people yesterday and Im not the first one to have a run in like with the lady that runs that place. Anytime anyone questions her she throws you off the property! I think her days of operation are numbered.

you see it all the time. Even on ebay where someone puts some ridiculous buy it now. Anyone remember the recent Speedy Hat for $1000.00? These dopes deserve the fees they pay to have their item just sit gathering dust.

I have this antique mall by me.

                There's a guy there that's pitiful

He only has one item -- and he's there every week with it.

4 Galoob 5" A-Team loose action figures (missing accessories) with the Ertl A-Team plastic van in lousy condition.

They sit posed under an upside-down fishtank

His written price tag is $250.00

I kind of feel sorry for the guy.

He looks like he's a little off.

I'm guessing his worst nightmare is actually selling them, then he has no other reason to be there.

The Star Wars market is beginning to wane again like it did after the first trilogy ended. Of course that doesn't keep less experienced sellers from trying to push the brand without really knowing the value of anything they have. I don't go to many flea markets in my area anymore because the best buys are usually picked by other sellers who walk the market before it opens. So there's really no incentive anymore. It's just become too much of a task compared to sitting down with a hot cup of coffee and skipping about on Ebay. That's alot of fun to me.

I used to frequent Antique Malls around the STL area. I liked going to them because you could find a sleeper every now and then and get a pretty good deal on something. I do not go no where near as often anymore. I have found that most of the people selling toys in the antique malls are smoking crack or something equivalent around here in St. Louis. The only time one can find a real bargain in an Antique Mall is when the dumb ace's are closing down their cases because their prices were to ridiculous to begin with. OR they become behind in their rent and have to have a fire sale. I have literally seen the same stuff in some of the same booths sit month after month without selling. It is truly amazing. The sellers seem to love to pay each month just to say that they have a business or a place in an antique mall. I guess it sounds cool to them when they try and impress their friends????? One would think that they would get a friggin clue after a while. Some spend more money on their rent then what the stuff in their cases are actually worth to begin with. The last time I was in one of the antique malls I did see some Mego action figures. Planet of The Apes to be more specific. The person was asking like $65.00 for a regular issue soldier ape loose in good played with condition. In other words nothing special. The person also had the Astronaut, Cornelius as well as Dr Zaius. All priced accordingly ridiculous. Some people really think that they are sitting on gold mines. Maybe some day they will wake up before it is too late. ????

Yeah, I have to say the antique business has gotten ratty lately. Market value on alot of Mego's is not what it use to be simply because the bulk of collectors have what they want. The fact that you have newbie sellers out there trying to push them for premium dollar only underscores the fact. When a new influx of collectors comes around, you might find some of those prices go back up, but with the current economic market I believe most prices will remain depressed for a while. Now from the standpoint of Star Wars figures, I think your going to see that market dampened for some time to come...unless Lucas suggests making the 7-9 episodes.

I thought that I had read that Lucas was finally done cashing in on Star Wars? Then again that was what they had said about the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm street movies.

Well there is a dealer with some sense here that sets up at our other Flea Market, and he often has sar wars stuff very fairly priced.
To my knowledge there arent very many people into this type of stuff around here, there is a Star Wars collector or two, I know of a guy that collects horror related stuff. There are some big comic book people. Wish there were some other people that liked all this around here.

I have an antiques shop around here too, this guy has the same old POTF figures(2000)for top dollar. He is selling a ben kenobi cold weather outfit, episode one jar-jar,queen amidala,qui-gon jinn and han solo hoth gear green card for $75 for the lot of 5.I approached him and i told him you have the wrong price tags on these sir, they are not vintage. He told me that these are vintage dolls over 15 years old and worth every penny.I said o.k.(LMAO inside) if you say so get your feather duster out cuz they will be here a while. He then told me to get lost and leave him alone.

In the mean time i headed to another booth and a nice lady had a set of remco dracula and frankenstein large figures loose and clean at $10 for the pair..go figure,Some people just do not know what they have at all!
