    Another 70's Search Sated

As a kid, I remember being able to put out the 25-cents to grab one of these shaped erasers. They came shaped as cars, sharks, dinosaurs and, my favroites, space aliens-

I've done a few half-hearted searches over the years, but never found anything. I recently came across a guy who has stored a bunch of 70's and 80's stuff and he had a bunch. I got some cars and came across these later. I need to find a few more and then I'll search out the sharks

I only remember buying them individually, but I think matchbox worked out some deal and sold them in 4-packs later on.

If it is the same machine I am thinking of from the late 70's to very early 80's, I recall a 25 center just dedicated to the little rubber sharks. I used to have a ton of these, all gone now. Late in the 90's I was able to find one at a flee market that I still have here. However it was not one solid color but more as if Imperial made tiny rubber versions. Is that the sharks you are tlaking about?

No, these were all one color. I've come to see the company updated their production to make a second, more detailed set of aliens and cars (still one color). for me, however, nostalgia drives to the ones I had as a kid.

I believe they were put out by a company called Diener. Came in a bag stapled to a header card. They were later released by Mcdonalds.

Diener is definitely the company behind these. From what I've found out, they were sold in many ways. They were sold in sealed bags, but mostly they were sold individually from various counter displays and containers. Later they would be packaged in groups on to blister packs, sometimes even under another company's banner (like Matchbox). At some point, they were also included in McDonald's Happy Meals.

I've got a few of these stashed away with my Buck Rogers ones from the tv series. I believe....at least up here...they were sold through the same gumball machine as Buck Rogers aliens.
