    Mazinga Trading Card

The one overwhelming suggestion I got for trading cards are the Mattel Shogun Warriors, which is pretty easy to do considering how iconic they are.

Mazinga is special to me because he was the first vintage toy I bought at a yard sale, bought it from a friend of mine who kind of thought I was odd for doing it. I wonder what he'd think of me now....

Never had the Shogun Warriors but my cousin had one and it was always the first toy I'd gravitate to when playing in his basement. That and his life-size pinball machine....

My parents bought my brother all of the Shogun Warriors except Dragun. He was the only one that was mine. I still have them all in a box in the garage. They're a little beat up though.

Finally!! I had quite a few of these guys years ago. The one I wish I had never gave away was one of the huge guys (If memory is correct, he was almost 2 feet tall). Are these out yet? I can't wait to get this card. JOHN

Sweet! My love affair with Japanese robot toys began with getting this guy for my 10th birthday. The funny thing is, I didn't even know this guy existed at the time. I was bugging my mom for a Micronauts Biotron, and I guess when they went to the toy store to buy one for me, they saw the Shogun Warriors, and my mom decided that Mazinga was way cooler than Biotron (bless her, she was right!) so they picked him up instead.

What a great toy, towering over everything else and it shot missiles. The strange writing on his stomach gave him a mysterious alien quality (years later when I learned to read Japanese katakana, I learned that the writing said, not surprisingly, his name: "Great Mazinga"). Anyway, I'm glad that Mattel gave us at least a small taste of the awesome toys that Japanese kids had to play with.

I'm very embarrassed to admit this but .....
Back in the day, I never even heard of Mazinga or Shogun Warrior's.

Was it just a toy line or a cartoon too ?

Very cool card. I always thought they were cool but never had any. I was probably past the toy stage by then.

Mazinga is milestone manga and anime.
Japanese legend Go Nagai created it (and also Devilman).
Mazinger Z - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shogun Warriors were "simply the best" for kids, being so frigging BIG!
And you could take out the neighbour's cat with his missiles....
The only one I'm missing is Godzilla (damn you, lizard!), even though he doesn't really fit in with the rest (apart from being Japanese).

                    Great card! I want one!!!

Yep, the original incarnation, Mazinger Z was first a manga, then a television anime, then a toy merchandising phenomenon in Japan. This toy is actually the second character in the Mazinger franchise, Great Mazinger (or Mazinga), later followed by the much more obscure God Mazinger, and more recently Mazinkaiser.

Never had the big ones but I had a bunch of the little metal die-cast versions which my Ma unearthed for me a few years back. Very cool. I would love a set of the biggies, but boy are they some space hogs.

Not interested in and never had the toys. Really don't like anime either but I LOVE the PS cards.
                          Keep 'em coming, Brian.
