I remember the excitement and then slight depression caused by the Clayton Moore appearance at my hometown mall in Minnesota. Mr. Moore capitalized upon the opportunity to complain about the way the studio had mistreated him and robbed him of the mask. I must have been around 8 or 9 at the time, but I distinctly recall the frustration and bitterness coming from Moore. He wore giant shades, almost as big as the mask.

Wow. I didn't know he was still doing that in '85. My understanding from Adams accounting was he gave it up in '76, so that is really a wild revelation! Great pics! Thanks for sharing!

With or without the suit though, he'll always be Batman to me.

I've mentioned this before, but there was a strange reality/fiction series on TV Land a few years back called "Living in TV Land" I believe. Anyway, one episode focused on Adam West, and a fan's quest to get him to put on the cowl again. The fan was actually an LA dee-jay who also works on Family Guy with West, but it was said that West hadn't donned the cowl since the show was canceled. Obviously, that's not true, and this REALLY proves it.

Wasn't their a year or two during Clayton Moores tenure as the Lone Ranger on TV in the 50s that some one else wear the mask in several episodes.

Took me some looking but I finally found it on Youtube. Had to put my DVD copy in to see who the guy was who interviewed Adam and got him to put on the cowl one last time. This is a condensed version of the show, with Adam wearing the cowl at the end... Here's Batman in his 70's - ENJOY!

Here's a strange Adam West TV appearance from 1977 on "Memphis Wrestling". Possibly drunk and wearing a rather odd Batman costume (cowl and sweatsuit???) !

Adam West also did the voice of Batman for the last two seasons of Superfriends, when it was changed to the Super Powers show for the 1984-1986 seasons.

Adam West along with Burt Ward also did the Batman and Robin voices for Filmation's the New Adventures of Batman. Funny thing is the voice actor who did batman in the 1966 Filmation Batman cartoon along with Casey Cassim were doing them on WB Superfriends at the same time.

Yes. John Hart was the other actor's name. Apparently Moore wanted more money and they producers wouldn't pay it. They hired Hart to replace him, but apparently the popularity of the show sank, so they caved to Moore's demands and he came back. Hart doesn't have the presence or heroic physique of Moore. He looks like a fill-in to me. Incidentally, he guested on an episode of The Greatest American Hero as himself. Ralph remembered him fondly as the Lone Ranger.
