1976 Mead Catalog for Super School Supplies

Yeah, it might seem pretty weird to feature a school supplies catalog, except this is Mead, who made all the cool licensed stuff you wished you had.

The big launch for 1976 were the Marvel Comics Superheroes school supplies, while I never recieved any of these personally, I must have sat across from a kid who did as they are permanently etched into my brain. Big props to my pal Tim Arnold for getting me these scans.

      Loving this!
I went straight to ebay! Found a set of Marvel Standups and they are mine now!
      Thanks for the memories. :-)

I really like the pre-production Hulk transfer w/ notebook paper that is shown much better than the one Mead eventually came out with!

Now this is a fun one. I had a Marvel organizer and a couple of those transfers when I was a kid. I also still have the DC ruler with the head shots.

From Our Way I have all the stand-ups and stickers. I will probably get the joint action stuff after I move. Just don't have the room for them right now.

The only Mead product I can remember having was a Trapper Keeper.

I had a ton of these! Thanks, Tim, for sharing this. I have most of them in my collection again, but some pretty bad examples. I really want to replace my Avengers 3-ring binder.

Boy, I can remember looking at that display at a Woolworth's. I had a folder or something that had a Marvel heroes border down the side...I cut that off and wrapped it in scotch tape to make a bookmark. Believe it or not, I still have it and use it!

Saw the Spidey Trapper keeper a few weeks ago at an auction. It was in decent shape and I kinda wanted it to use for Marvel non-sport cards but it had a bunch of common basketball cards in it and some guy bid like $30.00 for it (which was about $29.95 more than the cards were worth).
I bet he took it home and trashed the book since he wanted the cards.

Our local Begley's Drugstore (which later became Rite-Aid) had the reams of paper with the iron-on transfers well into the 80s. They just kept pulling the same stock out of the back over and over!

That dump has the Squadron Supreme/Sinister on it! How cool is that?
