Actually Jason and Zoltar (Joe and Berg Katse in Japan) die at the end of season 1. Oh and there's a whole transgender thing only hinted at in BOTP, Zoltar is a he/she.

Man, I still don't really understand.
All I know is, when I was a kid, there were cartoons that I kinda knew
originated in Japan at some point.
One was called G-Force, at least that's what we kids called it.
The other was Force Five, which featured Grandizer.
I really liked Grandizer, who is called Grendizer in Japan.
I always take an interest in seeing the Toho monster films
in their first, Japanese form, but the animation just seems to vast.
Whenever I start reading about how Battle of the Planets was different
and all these other things I get dizzy and it feels like the full weight of
thousands of tons of anime is going to crush me.
